Mat 10
5¶These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
6But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
8Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
9Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,
10Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
11¶And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.
12And when ye come into an house, salute it.
13And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
Many make the mistake thinking this is the same ' good tidings ' as The Gospel Paul spoke of in 1cor 15 1-4

So Jesus words in Mathew 10 above , are not what we preach today .
It was a progressive mission, to the Jew first, but that is what was done, and now it is preached to all people everywhere yet the message is the same and Paul did preach it.
Acts 20:25
And indeed, now I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more.

^ "the kingdom OF THE heavenS" is the promised and prophesied EARTHLY Millennial Kingdom, but "the kingdom of God" is more broadly-encompassing (for lack of a better term, atm).

[and yes, I am aware of the arguments that these terms are entirely interchangeable--I disagree--At times, what is said of one can be said equally of the other, but not in every case; Also, at some point during Jesus' earthly ministry, "the kingdom OF THE heavenS IS AT HAND" ceased being said... (I believe this is resumed in the future trib years, when it will again be "AT HAND," or very "NEAR/NIGH"--this is what we see in Matt24:14/26:13, preached DURING the trib yrs)]

Also remember that he told them to heal the sick and then to tell them that The Kingdom of Heaven has come nigh to them (that was the sermon I was preaching in that picture in my avatar) They came back rejoicing that the demons were made subject to them, and he said that they should rejoice rather than their names were written in heaven.

So we also have a testimony of how God translated us out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light or (his dear son) and this is also even MORE proof that the kingdom has come nigh. Or is at hand. The supernatural proof. Halleluljah!

I still preach it. That was the title of my message in that picture of me. Also, only in Matthew do you see the use of Kingdom of heaven because that was the terminology familiar to the Jews. It means the same thing.

how could they be preaching what we preach today when clearly they never understood what we now preach ?

I preach Jesus' words today
They did not understand the Gospel as we preach today. So hopefully your not preaching what they were preaching ?
31¶Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
32For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
33And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
34¶And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken. luke 18 .

In Acts 3:21, we see Peter [speaking to "ye men of Israel" who were not saved persons--vv.12,13,14,15a,17,19] saying [of Jesus],

"whom indeed it behooves heaven to receive UNTIL the times of restoration OF ALL THINGS WHICH GOD SPOKE BY the mouth of His holy prophets from the age." [that is, the OT prophecies, by means of OT prophets (to be fulfilled YET FUTURE)--so yes, "the kingdom OF THE heavenS" (the EARTHLY MK age) was certainly "prophesied" by the OT prophets, and was well known and understood by Israel, to whom it was promised (and of which involves also "the land," etc--see Ezek37:12-14,20-23, etc)]

Repent for the Kingdom of God is at Hand. Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. You don't have to understand all the details to enter into it by faith. Repentance is required and Faith. Understanding comes by degrees.

They were putting faith in the prophesies that Jesus was the One spoken of in the prophets and all that the prophets said about the salvation and the Kingdom of God. They did not have to understand everything. You and I still require the same faith and we don't understand it all.

That is why people are still arguing over the meaning of the Kingdom of God, Kingdom of Heaven, Premillennial, Amillennial. Etc. They don't fully grasp the details. But be assured of this, there is a literal Kingdom promised by the prophets as spoken of also by Daniel that will fill the earth and this is both a spiritual Kingdom and a literal Kingdom to come. We enter into it by faith in the promises about it. They did also. We don't have it all figured out yet either. Trust is required.

I think you missed it . They did not understand the only thing that saves a person today . They did not understand the death ,burial and resurrection . ( 1 cor .15 )
so what were they preaching ?

Matthew 11:28-29

King James Version

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

They were not telling people " Jesus has died for your sins , was buried and Rose again on the third day according to the scriptures. Thats the Gosoel which is ! the power of God unto salvation.

These things were already prophesied even if they did not fully understand them. So when you put your faith in the promises of God your faith is imputed to you as righteousness. The Kingdom of God is promised to those that we preach to. They enter it by faith that Jesus is who the Bible says he is. This Gospel was being preached before Jesus died on the Cross by Jesus himself telling them about it. I don't think it is technically correct to say they did not preach the Gospel when the scriptures said they did.

my idea is let’s discuss the thing Jesus Christ taught his followers in the four gospels and see if we can have a spirit of understanding who Jesus is to us
Jesus is Lord of all and Savior to those who believe in Him. That’s Gospel Truth.

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

You could start with the Sermon on the Mount, since that is where Jesus began teaching His disciples in detail.

that’s a good place to start for sure is there any section that really speaks to you or that you have any thought about from the sermon ? I’ve noticed a few of your posts And really like them.

One thing that jumps out to me about the sermon on the mount and really all of his ministry is that it is centered so much on mercy which God give and commands us to then give others. And how that is going to measure our own judgement when we appear before the lord .

“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest:

for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: Give, and it shall be given unto you;

good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’m lately noticing this is really our foundation through the gospel. I love how Jesus began to teach God is our Heavenly Father who loves us and we’re meant to be like he is .....
