One of my teachers at school is gay or acts very gay. I told him that hes a sinner and he got me in trouble for it? I complained cos Im allowed to express my views and what he does is a sin but the headteacher didnt even care. She told me I still had to be tolerable even if I dont want to agree with someone else. But isnt a part of being a christian calling out when others go down the wrong path? Im so confused on what were supposed to do in situations like this.

Hi jam! It sure was brave of u to tell ur teacher he's a sinner. But not many people can take it that easily, and so u may have to consider trying to reach him again another way. One, u can pray for him, that he softens his heart to the Lord and begin to ask to understand himself better. Sometimes older persons also resent when the young point out their faults, so it may help if someone his age try to share the Gospel, wc does not mean we, whatever age, cannot do that.

Even some believers w/ gay tendencies are not open to hearing that they are not in the right direction, so much more others i suppose who never really cared. When i remember, i'll be praying for help from above, and that u also may be firmly grounded in the truth and can share powerfully, in the name of the Lord.

Maybe have a bit more tact. Does your teacher even know what sin is? We cannot take for granted that he has even read the Bible. Also, you can't just be like "You're a sinner." and leave it at that. The proper follow up is to tell people the solution. The solution is the gospel of Christ.

Besides, we are all sinners so we don't actually need to redundantly state the obvious or pretend like we are without sin ourselves. We should acknowledge that while we are sinners that Christ still loved us and gave himself for us so that through faith we may have forgiveness and eternal life.

A good way to effectively witness to non-Christians is through lifestyle. Love your teacher, go the extra mile for him, extend grace and forgiveness to him. When he tells you that you are nice then tell him that you're a Christian and Jesus loves him. See where the conversation goes. Take care.

Oh Darling... I am so sorry that happened...
You see there's a difference between telling off a person he is a sinner versus letting him realize himself that he is...I know you mean well but maybe he reacted by how you deliver it and probably might cause him to hate people like us "christians" and would not be open to christianity because in his mind we attack them by saying they are a sinner, when in fact "we all are sinners" even us and no one is perfect, this is a very delicate situation, pray about it that you may win his heart to the Lord and maybe start of by repairing a damaged conversation if you will? I wish you all the best and the Lord sees your good heart in reaching out to him. 👍🏼

No, it's not. The goal of a Christian is not to criticize others for their sins because guess what, You Sin Too!
The goal is to bring people to God and it is GOD'S job to work on their sins, After Being Saved.
Telling someone unsaved to stop sinning is utterly pointless as it is literally impossible.

I've worked with homosexuals and guess what? They never knew I was against it. Was it because I was ashamed or embarrassed to speak up? No. It was because going out of my way to tell them would be pointless. If it came up naturally I would have stated my views, but not by telling them they need to change.

Being a Christian doesn't give one a license to run around telling everyone they are a horrible sinner that needs to change.
Read a Bible? When they brought the woman caught in adultery to be stoned, what did Jesus do?
How did he handle the woman at the well? By getting in her face and telling her she was going to hell?
No on both accounts. Jesus managed to treat them respectfully, so that when he spoke his words carried more meaning than just telling them they were wrong and need to change.

Being a Christian means loving everyone despite of sexual orientation, race or anything... that’s what no one gets... what gets you into heaven aren’t your beliefs or how literally you take the Bible, it’s how you act every day as a human... are you kind to everyone despite race or sexual orientation? Do you treat everyone with respect no matter how different?

We are called to tell the truth.....but only when asked. All of us have sinned.
We are called to preach the good news Christ crucified. That sinned has been dealt with the savior has come.
When we point out sin we turn the conversation around to about them.....avoid that just by mearly saying you are not here to address issue but proclaim the good news.

Hello BAS12, that has not been my experience since becoming a Christian 34 years ago I am happy to say :) There are "some" who regularly act in an unloving manner towards others who are different than they are in some way (even though they refer to themselves as "Christians"), but this is hardly true of all of us who make that claim (and I have rarely, if ever, seen this kind of unloving behavior in church or in the parachurch ministries that I've been blessed to be involved with over the years).

..what gets you into heaven aren’t your beliefs or how literally you take the Bible, it’s how you act every day as a human... are you kind to everyone despite race or sexual orientation? Do you treat everyone with respect no matter how different?
Being kind and respectful towards those who are different than we are in some way can certainly be a loving act, but how we act towards others is not what, "gets us into Heaven"!

Romans 5
8 God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Christians, especially on the West, seem to emphasize certain sins more than others. They seem oddly fixated on homosexuality or abortion. Probably because usually they aren't tempted to commit these themselves, so it's easier to talk about how terrible it is. But when are we going to hear from these people a sermon about stealing copyrighted content being sin, or grumbling being evil? Not any time soon, I'm sure, the sin that is common is normalized and goes unmentioned. You are young, I realize this is the influence from your environment and I am not blaming you. But this is our human lame judgments and skewed standards being executed, and not God's. Beware not to fall into that trap.

There's no place where the Bible teaches that there are bigger, intolerable, and lesser, more tolerable, sins. "The wages of sin is death". There is no discrimination, if it was cursing, or anger, or grumbling at our circumstances (because grumbling is, in the end, blaming God for everything), or homosexuality. It's not in tune with the Spirit of life.

And before someone mentions this, "sin not unto death" mentioned in the Bible isn't about some lesser sins. This is the washing of the feet after the supper, for those who are already clean and sup with Christ. Errors on the way belonging to the person that hates sin and doesn't want to sin any more, as Christ is being "formed in them".
