If only they were preaching the Gospel to people outside the church.
if only people OUTSIDE the church were the only ones who needed to hear it.....

1Peter 4:17
For it is time for judgment to begin, starting with the house of God. And if it starts with us, what will be the fate of those who are disobedient to the gospel of God?

Jeremiah 25:29
See, I am beginning to bring disaster on the city that bears my Name, and will you indeed go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword on all who live on the earth, declares the LORD Almighty.'

The whole book of John never says ' repent '
your quote here was in response to @Nehemiah6 and he did not say John
carefully, and slowly read the name used here:
Read the book of Jonah and learn what it means.
Jonah is the 32nd book in the Old Testiment
John is the 4th book in the New Testiment

And so one has to ask......repent of what? Are you doing something to repent of?
Repent is an action verb, so get to it and stop the nonsense.

Among those who are obsessed with repentance are 7th Day Adventists and other cults that deny the sufficiency of the propitiation.
Christians don't need to be reminded to repent, we have the Holy Spirit to convict us.
Jesus, who judges The Church first, then the world, then the powers in high places instructs us to repent. Read Revelation 1 & 2
It's his post-ascension message to the church.

"Those whom I love, I rebuke and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent." Rev 3:19 (NASB)

I'm happy for you if you've managed your entire Christian walk, all the years of your saved life in absolute perfection.
I can't say you haven't, not knowing you. But I do know human nature & I don't think even the Apostle Paul managed that.
I think most of us have strayed from the right path sporadically & done things wrong we've had to take to God & confess.

Have you read the LORD's words to the seven Churches in Revelation 1 to 3. If you have not, please do. He specifically warns them to repent from those actions he finds them wanting. The same warning goes out to all the churches of our time in different ways.

What good does it do us have faith in that Christ is capable of forgiving our sin if we don't give up our sin and let Christ pay for it and forgive us?

If we don't use the sacrifice of the Lord of His blood for the forgiveness of the sin we repent of it can be compared with who people used the sacrificial system before Christ for killing instead of for blood given for the atonement of the soul. The first chapter of Isaiah tells us what God thinks of that.

The Lord tells us we must be perfect, and the only way to perfection is by accepting what Christ does for us. Then we are perfect. We must give up our will to sin, another way of saying we must repent.

There is an added blessing, in addition to the eternal life this gives us. Living God's way as much as we can leads to blessings in this life, also. It is the road to contentment and peace.
I agree. I would however, like to add to the 3rd paragraph (in my opinion) that, it is not only by accepting what Christ does for us that we become perfect (i.e , in terms of believing only) but also by doing all he tells us to do including as you said, giving up our will to sin. He exemplified the way for us and has given us an understanding of the Way, understanding of the true God and His begotten Son and our relationship with both the Father and the Son (1 John 5 : 20) and we must walk as he has walked here on earth.( 1 John 2:6).

He is the light of the world and has made us partakers in this light. When we walk in this light, we have fellowship with one another and his blood cleanses us of our sins (1 John 1:7). We must walk the walk as you have rightly said.

It saddens me that with everything going on around the world right now, that so called Evangelistic preachers are still pushing things that tickle the ears. I have not heard anyone (thinking mainstream well known) stand up recently and say to the church "REPENT!"
Google Assemblies of God near me and go visit. There is a very good chance you will hear it there. My pastor just preached on sin and repentance last week. It was all about how sin allowed to remain will eventually cost you more than you ever wanted to pay and make you stay in it longer than you intended to stay and it was a serious call to a devout and holy life.

Check out David Wilkerson Sermons on line. He passed in 2010 but his sermons are classics already. David did a lot of correcting the modern church but in the right spirit and he had the 60 years of ministry leadership in the American Charismatic churches world wide to know what he was talking about.
Check out Paul Washer, he is of the Baptist Denomination but preaching repentance and holiness in a powerful but balanced message. Through Paul Washer you can probably find more like him who are hearing the voice of God for the hour and calling the church to repentance.

I don't know who the public well known preachers are today I have not kept up with TV or celebrity preachers for decades.

I am focused on book study and those preachers where I actually attend meetings. It seemed like Paul Washer was thrust on me last year. Two brothers that I know and respect how live in different areas of the country contacted me about the same month and asked me several time to listen to Paul Washer. I normally don't listen to the preachers that people send me because I am too busy with books and don't want to listen to 45 minute sermons saying something they could have reduced to 3 minutes. But I felt like God might be behind the two brothers asking me to listen to Paul Washer. And I found his message very needful for the church today.

Paul Washer used to go to Leonard Ravenhall's Bible Study in his home in Lindale Texas in the 80s. I was aware of these studies and though I did not attend I lived near by and some of my close friends told me about them. No wonder Paul preaches as he does.
Leonard Ravenhill also influenced David Wilkerson to read the Puritans and David's ministry changed into a world shaking holiness prophet after his encounter with Leonard Ravenhill.

We need more preachers like David Wilkerson, Paul Washer, Leonard Ravenhill, Carter Conlon, ....I am sure that they are out there. God is raising up men and women of God who will preach the whole counsel of God.

Telling people to ' turn from their sins " do you mean they have to stop sinning first ,in order to be saved ?
Before you believed, was there no change of heart in you to turn from your fleshly ways to the right path in sincerity? To believe entails a sincere decision one makes to turn from his old way of fleshly life to a new way of life in Christ Jesus.

Nehemiah 6 has provided us with God's commandment - That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (1 John 3:23) . So it is not only believing, we must walk the walk too. Love is the fulfilment of the Law

It isn't what any man tells you to believe, or how you paraphrase the words of the Lord. Our sin kills us, being saved is getting rid of the sin that kills us. To get rid of it, we have to turn from it and let Jesus take care of it. To give it into the care of Jesus, we have to turn it over to Him, in other words, we have to repent. We are humans, we can't stop sinning, but we can stop willing to sin. That is required.
I believe we can stop sinning if we walk with the understanding our Lord Jesus declared to us. Our faith in him enables us to stop sinning. if the will to sin is no longer in the heart, the mortal body will eventually be quickened by the Spirit. (Romans 8:11, 13). The motions of sin in the body will eventually disappear.

In addition to Acts 17:30, there are also the following additional bible verses relating to repentance/repenting:
  • Jeremiah 4:28 - For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black; because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.
  • Joel 2:14 - Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the Lord your God?
  • Jonah 3:9 - Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
  • Hebrews 7:21 - For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedeck
  • Revelation 2:5 - Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
  • Revelation 3:19 - As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Based on the bible verses above 1605240260790.png , repentance is not only limited to repenting from sin, but also changing our minds with regards to any action.

Being Teachable
There is a general negative attitude towards repentance by some Christians.

However, repentance or repenting is spoken about throughout the entire bible. It is normal to repent and change our minds. Therefore, we must have an attitude that we will have to constantly repent. That is how we become teachable.

To be teachable you need to have the mindset that you do not know everything and might be wrong about a lot of things. This is mindset will help you to learn and grow.
As the years have gone by my understanding of the Bible has changed and I have had to repent or change my mind on the interpretation of certain parts of the Bible.

If we do not have an expectation that we will always need to repent, then we will never grow spiritually. We will never change.

Repentance is part of the Christian life
From my experience God does not always show our faults all at once, because we would become discouraged if He did. God slowly shows you areas in your life where you should change at a pace that you can handle and expects you to repent when He does.
Even after we are saved, we are tempted by the devil to sin and when we have sinned, God expects us to repent and confess our sins (1 John 1:9).

Example of the Pharisees
There is a danger when you do not see the need to repent or not to expect that you might need to in future. The Pharisees are a good example.
The Pharisees did not see the need to repent because they thought that they were sinless and perfect and did not need to change. They also could not repent and accept Jesus because believing in him and following him meant changing their beliefs, their understanding of scripture, their way of thinking and doing things.

We must have the mindset that we are not perfect and need to change. And if you think that you are perfect and do not need to change then ask your spouse, siblings, parents or children if you are perfect and they will tell it to you in your face that you are not.
Therefore, we will need to be continuously repenting whether repenting of sin or our actions.

We need to be continuously renewing our minds.

Uh, I think you made a little mistake. You probley copy pasted without reading so I double checked with a newer version and:
Superior Priesthood
20And none of this happened without an oath. For others became priests without an oath, 21but Jesus became a priest with an oath by the One who said to Him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’ ” 22Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.…
