I so agree with this.

In this day and age many are watering down the word of truth. Putting their selves first in fear of offending others.
Taking what I call "the sting of conviction" out of the message doesn't help anyone.
Nothing lessened the agony and pain our dear savior had to endure. Or the blood that was shed to place the truth in our hands.

Did he just advocate for creedal, confessional practice?

What we have to remember saints is that darkness opposes the light by it's very nature.
Our society is 3 maybe 4 times removed from the Lord.
That is to say that past trends were in favor of letting a child believe in what they wanted instead of trained in the way they should go.
With the poor examples of celebrities, politicians, and liberal-minded leadership it's no wonder the results are as we see them in this day and age.
As paul said "fight the good fight" faint not in well doing. Boast in your weaknesses, endure to the end.
The church has been purposed for a reason and that reason is not to just let every believer through the pearly gates. We have been commissioned to preach, teach, and live the gospel of Jesus the Christ.
