Life is so uncertain - what does the future hold?
It seems that for everyone else around me...
Life happens...
Did I miss the memo?
Did I miss the boat?
Everyone else is walking,
But my life seems so stationary... remote...
Lost in a world of thought and silent prayers;
Waiting, watching, aching
As I hold on to what God's Word has said.
I think I know what Abraham must have felt;
What Sarah's heart yearned for as her womb did not bear...
As the years wore on - that feeling of despair.
Yet hoping against hope,
Believing the impossible,
A resolute faith they did share.
Until one day it happened;
Out of the barrenness of her womb,
And past the age of reason,
A son she did bear.
Look to the Rock, dear son,
And to the hole from which you were dug, dear daughter,
And find encouragement there.
It feels a lonely walk - a wilderness set before you.
But it is from the bitter barrenness that the sweetness of faith springs up.
The seed of the Word is planted in a dry and barren land.
And Christ shall emerge:
Spring up before you
And convert that barren land...
It seems that for everyone else around me...
