My grandson was notified that the president has fired him as of yesterday. He had a $3000 per week job wiring pumping stations on the Keystone Pipeline. He is on his way home to Michigan today. The company will place him in weekly jobs for the next few weeks at less than half the income.

Judging from the rank and file workers of his union, there are going to be some big union bosses looking for work because they endorsed President Biden.

I would like to know, good or bad, how has the actions of the president effected your family?

Everyone is effected negatively... I own a small business...

I was shut down for roughly 9 months, racked up more debt than I could count, but Christ cleared it all up in 1 day (Praise GOD)

But, my business is making roughly 25% of what it did this time last year, and it's twice the amount of work due to "covid safe practices"

IMO America is gone, and we will be seeing the death throws of a sick country in the next few years.

I understand where you are. I am thankful that I live in Florida. Our businesses haven't suffered to the same extent as other states. I am also glad that we are well on our way to getting everyone who wants to be vaccinated against covid19 vaccinated. We are already seeing a decline over sixty-five deaths. I see a light at the end of that tunnel.

I am really concerned about all the new POTUS executive orders. I would really like to hear from those who are being effected by them.

I'm sure we are all affected some way or another. Adding 11 million illegal aliens and counting the illegal aliens on the census will definitely affect the nation.

I have two teenage grandchildren who work for slightly above minimum wage. They are looking forward to a $15 minimum wage. I suspect that when they find out that they still can't buy all those luxuries they want, they'll want a raise again.

Most of those 11 million are already working, and I don't see them as a large threat to jobs. They are a threat to the republican party, because states will use their numbers to obtain more democratic seats.

Tells those grandchildren to not be surprised that a $15 minimum wage may very well eliminate their job.

Or their hours. Remember Bernie Sanders doing that?

I am a silent partner in a business my daughter owns and runs.
She employs 60 plus people in the 5 sandwich shops she runs.
The minimum wage increased from $10 to $11 per hour in Arkansas on January 1.
Only two recently hired people were making $10 per hour.
She believed it only fair that if these two received a $1 per hour raise, all 60 should.
The cost of labor increased over $60 per hour or $1600 per day.
If there is another increase in labor cost, at least two of her shops will have to be closed and maybe all 5.
There is always a negative side to increased labor cost.
It does not always means things are better for those who make minimum wage.
Sometimes it means zero income.

I have watched the streamlining of several food service businesses here. Most are cutting menu items and raising prices, but that isn't enough. They are having to manage hours carefully just to keep their doors open. Full time employees now have part time hours. They are hanging on by a shoestring.

One thing will happen to the minimum wage worker though, even if he keeps his job. The buying power of his wages will be no higher than they were at the lower wage.

For the average non minimum wage worker, without an equivalent raise, his buying power will decrease. IOW all in all, the poverty level will be higher.
