What are some things that your pastor/church leadership has done that you believe crossed over into politics? Please include items which may also favor your beliefs.

This thread is open to both liberals and conservatives!

I can start...

- we had a help desk after service for people to sign up/get info on ACA/Obamacare after service. There was someone specialized on this topic at the help desk, maybe someone from the outside

- regular/ weekly reminders on our slides on registering to vote

- putting out a statement supporting BLM

- repeating almost weekly for awhile that there is a lot of racial injustice

- copying FB post which states that we need to accept results of democracy (re election)

- praying for the President that God grant him humility, etc.

- and entire sermon which was anti abortion

- to put ourselves in the shoes of illegal immigrants

- staing that Kanye West isn't right in the head

wow thats really political
we had elections last year and I dont recall much as I wasnt attending often, and it was mostly apolitical

BUT one church I used to attend but dont anymore one of the members was actually a political candidate.

one time we were invited to write submissions on the proposed euthanasia bill

the church was used a polling booth

Otherwise, there wasnt that much politicking going on.

although I do think one church was used as a hall for different politcal candidates to speak with the people.

one candidate was photgraphed kneeling down praying in a church, but it wasnt one that I attended.

I find that different churches have different stances on politics, though I prefer it if people didn try and influence one way or another...because everyone can choose for themselves. as far as pastor is concerned, one was neutral, the others I dont think it matters what their politics are. It kinda depends on the electorate what the majority might be supporting and what issues are affecting us the most. Some of the candidates you dont even know, and there wasnt a lot of female representation in my one. We have MMP which means its mixed member porpotionate. its not just one or two party politics.

What do you do with a Leftist church? Walk away from it.

If the focus is not strictly on the Bible and Gospel truth, then there is no point in a church meeting. Unfortunately too many churches have abandoned their purpose.

I was very involved in the abortion issue from the time after my first child's birth until I was not healthy enough to continue. Since then, I am just vocal about it. But when I was a very young mother, the pastor told me very strongly to get out of the movement because it was not any of my business: it was a "Catholic issue." They were fundies. <rolls eyes> THEY saw it as political.
