your prayer brought to mind the following verses.

Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable. (job 36:26)

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. Psalm 145:9

I have some questions about prayer as the Lord would give it to us.

First, is about praying by rote. We know this is not true prayer, but we are given examples of prayer--examples that come from those who love the Lord. There is even an example given by Christ we call the Lord's prayer. Personally, I have found that those words that come from the Lord are never as a prayer by rote or a prayer that does not express my soul as speaking to the Lord. I feel elevated and blessed by these prayers.

Secondly, I know that the lord knows better what I need than I do, yet I feel I must express my desires to the lord. At the same time, I know His will has greater good than mine. I find it hard not to argue with the Lord about some things in my life that I so want to have changed. Should we share our wants with the Lord, or only ask that what we want conform to what is?
