Good morning....it is to forsake everything...undergo the suffering on the journey....all this because we love God ....our obedience is to Him and not to society’s rules....
as Jesus said...narrow is the door that leads to life...few there will be that enter

Hello @Naomi123, here is one passage concerning this idea.

Luke 12
33 Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves purses which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near, nor moth destroys.
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Do you believe that the Lord Jesus is instructing us to sell EVERYTHING that we own, only part of it, or is He saying something else, and why do you believe that is so

Thanks :)

Hi Deut....thanks for the verses
we must take only what is necessary for the journey....we are required to live a life of simplicity...not greed and abundance of possession....as scripture says...walk as Jesus did...just follow...trust....remember Phillip said...Lord show us the Father....and what did Jesus reply.....I have been with you for so long and still you do not recognise me....
what we do is in obedience to God....as in Genesis....the sacred command

Yes it would!

He is no fool who gives what He cannot keep in order to attain that which He cannot lose.
-Elliot.

Matthew
19:27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
19:30 But many [that are] first shall be last; and the last [shall be] first.

Yes! I have a Bible, and I can read! PTL!

Matthew
22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
22:39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Hello, Brother Deut!

When He tells us it is our time and turn to sell, then we sell. Amen? We be ready to do more than just sell... we be ready to die for Him! Oh, what a privilege!:):coffee:

Do you know the will of God?
Hello Roughsoul1991, that is a very good question. I do not believe there is a question that is asked more often of pastors, IOW, "how do I discover the will of God for my life?"

Perhaps how to go about doing that should be part of this discussion  @Naomi123, yes/no?

Certainly....in the greater picture of things...is the truth of our existence....as the prophets say...we are like the dewdrop that vanishes...we are here for a while then we are gone....so the true believer knows that the most important thing in this life is to find God...nothing else matters...
and Jesus shows the secret path ....to His children
Hear oh Israel...the Lord our Gold is one.....so great is the wisdom of the Holy Father....yet one must be as a child to receive it....
God answers indeed....a most powerful light...not of this world

Amen, sister!

Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Continuing with my thought from post #9 above, perhaps it would be a good idea to talk about the things that we should ~NOT~ do when we are seeking to know God's will  .. and perhaps why such ideas are bad (or at least not the best)

For some reason, a heads or tails flip of a coin is coming quickly to mind here as one of those ideas about discerning God's will that may not be among the best ;)

But there is no need to discern the will of God...Jesus is telling us plainly
remember Jesus asked...do my words offend you....John 6.61
what God requires us to do is not acceptable to all...remember the people rose up against Moses..they killed the prophets and refused to hear...they mocked Elijah...they stoned Stephen ...they killed the apostles...so in the cross you know why the hatred of God is so strong.....this is why Jesus said they hated me...they hated me from the beginning....spoken also in Genesis....
this is why Jesus said everything will be revealed and God is truthful and keeps his word....just as He Spoke to Moses ...
False prophets tell people what they want to hear...and indeed the people love them

It may be one of the best. It worked in the Jonah-boat. Urims and Thunims came in pretty handy back in ye old days. Much better than ear tickling and popularity contests of modern day, I'm sure.

For all those in Christ today . We have already found that 'Life '

It means they have already found the ' way ' . Remember this is spoken before the cross.
John 14 .6 .

¶Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5¶Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6¶Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If you are a Christian today, then you have already found that narrow way .

Jesus said not all who say lord lord will enter the kingdom...only those who do the will of God
remember...when Jesus said unless you eat of my flesh and drink my blood you shall have no life in you....this was when many turned away from Jesus....spiritually God is referring to the very long narrow road ahead...to accept His word and to partake in the suffering......many at this time deserted Jesus....even too in this life...few can walk the narrow path....
