In Matthew 19 the Rich man asks Jesus what he must do to inherit eternal life. First Jesus says there is only one who is good, and that is God. But He proceeds to say, follow the commandments.

The rich man says he has kept all of them and is confused at what he still lacks. and Jesus replies, sell everything and give to the poor.

Jesus then goes to say it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom and clarifies that this is impossible with man.

So essentially Jesus is saying, there is nothing YOU can do to enter the kingdom of heaven.

I have spent a lot of my time as a Christian worrying about how i'm living, trying to please God. But the problem with this is that my focus is on myself and what I am doing. I am so focused on myself that im not actually looking where I am going. Im so focused on protecting my worth that I have lost myself. When im in a social situation, im in my own head trying to think about what to talk about, and again the focus is on myself, so I end up having nothing to talk about.

I believe true faith is required to walk in this world without worrying about what you look like. It's so interesting because for my whole life I have been focused on myself, and instead of being able to see my own flaws, I only see the flaws in others. I can't see my own wounds, and I see other people's wounds as their flaws.

When I trust that my worth is unchangeable in Christ, I can be present with others without being worried about what I look like. It's still really hard, but im finally learning to let my light shine by taking the focus off of myself.

This is the damage caused by ' Lordship salvation ' . A read of Ephesians is the remedy. Seeing how secure you are as a believer in Christ .

And rightly so. As long as there is proper self-awareness, you cannot be of any help to others. Paul says "Examine yourself" so that is indeed essential. Which includes growing in Christ.

Christians read about the Rich Man not giving up his wealth to follow Jesus, and shake their heads at the poor soul - - while going out to store up treasures on Earth themselves.
Classic Cognitive Dissonance at it finest.

There is such mass deception on Earth about what attaining Eternal Life is.
Continue to ignore and rationalize Romans 8:13.

MATT. 19:29.
And every one that has forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother,
or wife, or children, or lands, for My Name's sake, shall 'receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit Everlasting Life'.
it ALWAYS get down to the 'MAJOR COMMANDMENT, '
MARK 12:29.
And Jesus answered him, 'The first of all the Commandments' is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is One Lord:
30.
And you shall LOVE The Lord thy God with ALL your heart, and with ALL your soul, and with ALL your mind,
and with ALL your strength: this is 'The First Commandment'.
if you put 'anything' before our God, then you better GET RID of IT...

Christians still struggle with what Eternal Life is.
Maybe if they translated Zoe Aionious properly, they might have a clue, for instance John 3:16.

A Jewish man that was living by the law asked Jesus the question. What did Christ say? With God ALL things are possible. You said 'I have spent a lot of my time as a Christian worrying about how i'm living, trying to please God. " Fact worry fear doubt things like this are not of God. As long as we focus on the sin thats all we are going to see. In Christ there is no fear no worry no doubt.. walk by faith.

Have faith that He that began a good work in you.. HE WILL FINISH IT! This flesh loves to sin...get over it. We don't have to walk in sin.. it has no power over us but if we fall get up dust off (repent.. KNOW He forgives) and keep going. He told one forgive 70*7 a day. See your self as He does. Through what Christ has already done. You in the Fathers eyes right now are righteous holy.. because of what Christ has done.. you believe in Christ.. the Father is faithful to what Christ has done.

Continue to ignore and rationalize Romans 8:13.
If a person is not' in the spirit ',he's not saved .
Romans 8:9—“Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
. Being “in the Spirit” means that the Holy Spirit lives in you, and if He doesn’t, you aren’t saved.
Now, if that’s true, then look at verse 10: “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead be because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.” If you are a Christian, you are a living man in a dead body. That body is dying because of sin, but positionally it has been crucified with Christ on the cross and was buried with Him.

This is what Philippians is referring to " focus of self ' .
phil 2

3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5¶Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

¶Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.

18For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.

19¶But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

20For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

21For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.
The 'Lorshippers 'will want you to focus on you ,as does the devil .

It’s sad when people who call themselves christian are so focused on self, and not focused on loving others.. pride is hard to break

You forgot to quote the next verse, where Peter said

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
