Hey everyone,
A while back, I wanted a physical Bible and so I went to my mom and we ordered one off of Amazon.
Problem is, I don’t think I told her what it was about.
Another problem is, if she knew that I was getting a Bible, I really really doubt we would’ve ordered it (she has a desire - although, based on my observations, her desire is not that strong - for me to go with our family culture, which would be different from Christianity).
I later found out that, after I apologized to her, she had believed I got it for like academics (or maybe she thought it was for school or maybe she thought it was something educational, something along those lines).

Reason why I wanted a physical Bible was because I spend a lot of my time behind a screen wearing glasses (and I could be better about those breaks for the 20-20-20 rule) and I thought it’d be easier on the eyes and provide other benefits as well.

But anyway, regardless, my question is, is there anything I can and/or should do at this point?

Has she taken the Bible away from you?

If not, then read it.

When it comes to following Jesus, no relationship should ever be placed in higher esteem than our relationship with the Lord.

For example, Jesus said:

Matthew chapter 10

[34] Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
[35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
[36] And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
[37] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
[38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

The sword which Jesus brings is "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (Eph. 6:17), and it will cause division even amongst family members.

We simply cannot love anyone, or even ourselves, more than we love Jesus and still be his disciple.

Btw, if you want an even better understanding of what Jesus said here in verses 35 & 36, then you should consider what the prophet Micah wrote because that is what Jesus was quoting.

Micah chapter 7

[5] Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.
[6] For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.

Many thanks for your reply sir,
I think I was already familiar with a lot of stuff you brought up, but I porbbaly learned at least a new thing or so, and besides, it was a nice message that I think reinforces some stuff.
The matter was bothering my conscience haha, so thanks again for replying.
The Bible I have is a Catholic one, so it’s canon has seven more books (I think there’s at least one more difference between it and a Protestant Bible).
[btw I’ve edited this msg]

You're more than welcome.

As far as the whole thing concerning your eyes and a computer screen is concerned, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but you can listen to the audio Bible online for free.

Personally, I would recommend the KJV, but there are several different versions to choose from at this link:

Oh yeah man, I’ve used audio Bibles before and they can be great haha. Audio Bibles and text Bibles both have their own benefit(s) and downside(s) for me, but yeah thank you anyway man.

I clicked on your profile, and I see that you live in the USA.

It would be my pleasure to mail you a brand new Bible if that would help the situation with your Mom, and, of course, for your own spiritual growth.

I don't have the ability to send private messages here, but I have some friends here who do.

I could always have one of them contact you privately to get your mailing address if you'd be interested in me sending you a Bible.

Just throwing that out there as an option.
