QUOTE="Billyd, post: 4551730, member: 196003"]The Colonial eastern petroleum pipeline that supplies 45% of eastern US refined petroleum has been shut down as result of a computer system hack.

LOL. Who wants to bet against this being a lefty eco-freak/Antifa type that got hired as a sys admin or something and loaded up the ransomware directly?

I suspect the culprit is the same as the culprit always is, the Deep State. Same folks who jammed a container ship in the Suez Canal. Crew error? I don't think so.

Same folks who organized, planned and committed 9/11, the OKC event, the Boston Marathon and many many more hoax and real events. SO you might have a patsy emerge in this story, perhaps a "lefty eco-freak/Antifa type". But that tells us nothing. Who hired them? Who is using them as a cover? Tim McVeigh was a patsy, as were the 19 Arabs with box-cutters

Question here is, what are they looking to gain from it? As if totalitarian surveillance and censorship wasn't already overbearing. My guess is this "cyber terror" will lead the way to more freedom-crushing legislation and regulation.

"The attack appeared to use a ransomware group called DarkSide, according to Allan Liska, senior threat analyst at cybersecurity firm Recorded Future. The cybersecurity firm FireEye Inc. said its Mandiant incident response division was assisting with the investigation. "

Sellers are scrambling to arrange alternate transportation.

Should companies pay ransoms to restart computer networks?

This same group (DarkSide) has hacked the Washington DC Police Department and is demanding $4M.
