Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

We are complete in Christ if we are led of the Spirit and a Spirit-led life will abstain from sin, but the flesh never changes and is always sinful so we will not get rid of our sin nature until we are out of this flesh being with Jesus.

Although we do not have to go by the sin nature by the Spirit but the sin nature is still there.
These passages are all taken out of context, and Colossians 2:9-15 explains why.

Good luck to you all . . . I've given my two cents and I don't argue, so I'll be leaving this thread.

Cheers.

I would be grateful with your approach on a biblical definition for "body of sin".
[I'm a little late to the party... was concentrating on some other projects and other threads when this OP had popped up... my apologies, I had intended on responding earlier in the week = ) ]

Here are some of the things I've posted in the past...

...note the distinction in Romans between "sinS" and "Sin":

--Romans 1 - 5:11 - "sinS" (sins we commit; things committed or omitted...; and verbs like "sinned" etc);

--Romans 5:12 - chpt 8-end - "Sin" ('the sin principle' / 'the principle of sin')

--'body of sin' = 'the sin principle' [often written as 'the sin' in Rom5:12 - chpt 8-end]

( ^ same as the phrase, "the body of this death" in 7:24, I believe [...'the sin principle'])

...so, not only freed from the guilt and penalty of sin, but also from the power & domination of 'sin'... 'the sin principle' / 'the principle of sin' (as expressed by the old nature--BTW, "one-naturism" is not biblically accurate [...the believer has two natures]).

...God did not 'forgive' 'Sin'/'the sin principle'/the 'principle of sin' (rather, 'condemned [the] sin in the flesh' 8:3b [see listing below, for the references having the definite article ('the')]):

"the sin" (with definite article) - 5:12 [2x], 5:20, 5:21, 6:1, 6:2, 6:6, 6:7, 6:10, 6:11, 6:12, 6:13, 6:17, 6:18, 6:20, 6:22, 6:23, 7:7, 7:8, 7:9, 7:11, 7:13 [2x], [7:17, 7:20], 7:23, 8:2, 8:3b

note 6:10 - "For in that He died, He died unto sin [/unto the sin] once [note: Jesus did not have a 'sin nature']: but in that He liveth, He liveth unto God."

Hope that helps. = )
