(Very sad but the last act of this father is the perfect image of sacrificial love.)

At Least 14 People Dead After Cable Car Falls from Line and Careens Down Mountain Into Trees.

Biran was one of 15 people in a cable car on Sunday in northern Italy, on the Stresa-Mottarone line. His family — including his father, mother, younger brother and two great-grandparents who were visiting — were all with him.

it seems that the reason he’s even alive is because of his father’s last act of love.

“In order to be able to survive the terrible impact, it is likely that the father, who was of robust build, wrapped his son in a hug,” the hospital told the Italian la Repubblica newspaper, according to The Times of Israel.

Thats terrible.
When there was a tragedy at cave creek years ago when a lookout platform jutting out over a ravine gave way, the ones that survived said they 'rode' the platform like a cat rather than panic or jump off.

It was found that Department of Conservation did not build the platform properly and cut corners on maintainence. I dont know if in this above case they observed safety or overloading limits. Or whether the cable car was not maintained to standard.

but certainly heroic that the dad saved his sons life!

I saw yesterday something on tv about the construction of the skypath lookout walkway in the Grand Canyon. Its a horsehose shaped glass walkway looking down over a canyon that looks incredibly risky given the height you are at over an abyss should you fall. It went into detail about the impressive engineering required to build such a structure. But for me personally I know enough to know not everything is fool proof and to identify where the danger is.

Though as in most things in life that we are still alive despite the myriad of things that could kill us we are here and breathing by Gods grace I suppose!

Agree. I personally do not like heights in less I am well connected to the ground like a path into the mountains.

At least that child will grow up knowing his family/ father loved him so much that he gave his life to protect him.
