What is the best Godly cure for loneliness, especially after asking God to fill you up and then waiting upon Him to do so? Recognizing that one can be lonely in a crowd, marriage or as a single. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, especially if you use the word of God to confirm your advice. Blessings🙏🏽💗.

My work may soon have a hybrid telework program where people only go to the office once a week, which is basically full-time telework. (I am now teleworking fulltime at my parents in a different city.) I am trying to figure out how to deal with this now, as I live alone and going into the office gave me some routine and interaction. Any advice on how to deal with this situation on loneliness from someone in the same situation would be helpful.

Hello,

I pray for God to fill me up and He always does but I think He also wants us to get into fellowship with other Christians which is why CC is a blessing to us. Take heart Jesus cares about everything that affects us including loneliness. We can pray to God in faith for a solution to the loneliness as we draw from His indwelling in us by the Holy Spirit. Blessings.🙏🏽💗

Beautiful, I'm sure this is alone time with you and God, therefore one solution is to get in God's presence. Thank you Sis.🤗

The best ways I know to deal with lonliness are:

  • Reach out to someone else who may be lonely (or someone who would probably be happy to connect with you a bit).
  • Go for a walk / hike where you may encounter other people ( and / or pets before I got my dog I used to have a couple places I'd go walk because I knew lots of people often walked their dogs there and I could pet dogs)
  • Volunteer somewhere, anywhere, ideally somwhere where you receive frequent appreciative feedback so you are reminded that there are people who appreciate you and kinda need you
  • Write an e-mail to a friend
  • Connect online on CC or other forums or chat sites
  • Crank some music and dance like no one's watching (because there's no one around to watch)
  • Reminisce and pray thanking God for all the good friends of the past, asking him to continue to watch over them and guard them, and also to provide more friends like that in your life
  • Designate a pillow, stuffed animal, blanket, etc as your cuddle buddy for those times when you just need something to hug

And if none of that seems to work, there's always the bury yourself in a game, tv show, movie, book to help burn through the lonely hours (don't know that that's such a godly response, but I still consider it better than some alternatives.

singing 'all by myself' as loudly and piteously as possible, someone might hear and come running (most likely to shut you up)

Otherwise, as a believer, I dont really know what you mean. What do you mean Im alone? Hasnt God adopted me into His family??

I used to watch Friends with friends, I remember, when it came on and I was flatting in a student hostel, we would all gather in one persons room who had a tv and watch Friends together.

Beats studying alone lol.

Somebody wiser than I once said the way to have a happy, fulfilled life is not through comfort and luxury, but by having something to be enthusiastic about.

Your mileage may vary of course, but I have things in my life to be enthusiastic about and although I am single these 43 years, I am pretty happy with my life.

First look at what you can do well. Then decide what you can do to make a difference with what you can do well. That's what you can probably most easily get enthusiastic about.

Praise the Lord we are in the family of God, but the word shows us that we were designed for human relationship, after all God told Adam it was not good for him to be alone. Thanks for your feedback, blessings.

funny thing was, the only university educated one in Friends was Ross. He was a paleontolgist, which none of us were studying at the time. I dont know anyone personally who studies paleontology.

rachel was the waitress, Monica was a chef, Joey was a soap actor, Phoebe a massuse and nobody really knew what Chandler's job was. I dont think he knew himself.

Anyhow. I dont think it was too realistic anyway, cos their apartments were huge - they were meant to be living in New York city. Where rents are sky high and average 20 year old can barely afford more than a closet. And no cafe really has a sofa like that they hogged all the time. Well Ive never seen one in all the cafes Ive been to they all have little tables to sit at and eat with chairs not coffee tables and big sofas.
