Wherein is our trust?

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to find someone that endures sound doctrine. Most of those who allege to believe in Christ tend tol heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear. They prefer to turn away their ears from the truth and turn to myths (2Tim 4:3,4).

Although this problem will exacerbate more and more as time goes by, this problem already existed from the times of the Old Testament:

• “that this is a rebellious people, lying sons. They are sons who will not hear the Law of Jehovah; who say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things, speak to us smooth things, prophesy falsehood; go out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.” (Isa 30:9-11)
• “So says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, Make your ways and your doings good, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.
*Do not trust in lying words, saying, The temple of Jehovah, The temple of Jehovah, The temple of Jehovah are these.*.
For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you completely do judgment between a man and his neighbor; if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your hurt; then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, forever and ever.
*Behold, you trust in lying words that cannot do any good.*
Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; and then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I also have seen, says Jehovah.” (Jer 7:3-11).

In the times of Jeremiah, the Israelites long for believing that, only for going to the temple of Jerusalem and offering sacrifices would be sufficient to keep them save. In particular, for those who dwelled in Jerusalem, the simple presence of that magnificent temple was sufficient for they thinking that Jerusalem never would be destroyed. After all, what god, supposedly, would despise so splendid building?

Even in the time of the New Testament, see how the apostles was astonished with the grandiosity of the temple (and it is good to recall that that temple was much inferior than Solomon’s temple):

• “And as some spoke of the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts, He said, As to these things which you see, days will come in which there shall not be left a stone on a stone, which shall not be thrown down.” (Luk 21:5,6).

Today, the history repeats. Most of the people believes that going to the temple to praise Jesus, pray, hear the preaching of the pastor, give tithes and offers is sufficient to be saved here and in the eternity.

No! It’s enough of trusting in lying words that cannot do any good!!! Without genuine repentance and daily conversion to Christ, nobody will be saved! Jesus never made any mention to worships in religious institutions. On the contrary:

• “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in *spirit and truth*, for the Father seeks such to worship Him. God is a spirit, and *they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth*.” (Joh 4:23,24).

I wish for you beautiful days. But, for this can be fulfilled, limit yourself to do Jesus’ will, namely:

• “And He said to them, Go into all the world, proclaim the gospel to all the creation.” (Mar 16:15).
• “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. As I have loved you, you should also love one another. By this all shall know that you are My disciples, if you have love toward one another.” (1John 13:34,35).

It is this that Jesus desires, and not the carrying out of void rituals. After all, without love, we aren’t nothing (1Cor 13:1-3).
