Bloodstained souls and greed-soaked hearts,
Weigh life by the pound and purpose in charts.
Mutilation for filling full stomachs and pockets,
Degradation and torture, percentage and profits.
The tears of Adam fall as he drops to his knees,
His abusive sons wardens who masticate peace.
Scheming evil treatments and facilities of murder,
The commerce of death, blood, milk and burgers.

~Poet of Ephraim

(y) Like this very much. It's very real. Such a vivid picture of why we need our Saviour as much now as we did at the beginning of time. We need to know where we're coming from.

Thanks for posting this. I'll be using it for personal reflection in my quiet time.

Thank you for your kind words @Dayspring !

Yes, how far we have fallen from Adam's time of peace and fellowship with the other half of earth's population. May Yahweh have mercy on the oppressors who know no better.

Thank you again for your comment. I'm glad this poem reached you.

Great work! You have put words to some very deep feelings. "The commerce of death, blood, milk and burgers" says way too much about us. I pray you can recover from the strain, Lewis wrote that dealing with demons gave him brain cramps.
