Quivering Water

At the shore
Waves wildly testing the beach
Blocking out the incessant noise
Water still quivering from creation.

A gull cries into the vastness
Tossing its feeble call against the roar
Expecting no echo or reply
Instantly muffled and hushed

I too call into the deep
Are we alone, is all yet empty?
The waves still roar and scratch at earth
And gulls call out the lone reply.

Pieces like this are so needed in our current climate of lockdown and isolation. There is harsh painful imagery here that, for me, really rings true.
It made me think about the dysfunction in the world, crying out for the ultimate reconciliation with God.
