When Jesus began his ministry, he didn’t raise money from his friends and sail to a foreign land to rescue savages. He didn’t go to school to get a degree so He could interpret God’s words to Man. He didn’t even buy a bunch of books and study the finer nuances of religion. He didn’t join a cloister to get closer to His Father. He didn’t write a book, play a song or paint a masterpiece (Oh, but if he had). He didn’t even keep the count of souls he brought to church, Oh my!
He walked. He walked and talked to his neighbors and to strangers he encountered. He approached the poor and the sick and the beggars he met on his way. He never turned away nor shorted anyone. He welcomed children and was especially insightful to women. He talked as easily to the rich, the powerful and the religious as he spoke to the leper, the foreigner and the insane. He gave what He had to everyone he met, no discussion of worth or merit. All who approached him got his undivided attention.
Why do I find it so difficult?
