James 1:2
New International Version
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,

Joy- the awareness (of God's) grace, favor; joy ("grace recognized").

Good afternoon everyone, I know many of you are facing trials today in many different ways. I want to remind us all to take the words of James to heart. Consider it pure joy to face trials. I defined trials as awareness of God's grace. Titus, therefore by explaining this grace, has explained joy as well.

Titus 2:11-14
English Standard Version
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.

Many of our trials in America are far different than those experienced by the Apostles and early believers. But our emotions, feelings, and needs are just as important to God. Our emotions are not any less significant. To have joy in the midst of our trials, we, like a broken record within the mind, should constantly remember the words of Titus 2:11-14. Look at the key points to have joy over-

1. God appeared in the flesh, as John 1:1-14 explains.
2. Jesus brought salvation to all people
3. Gave us the Holy Spirit to train and guide us.
4.Hope in the victory to come.
5. Jesus's sacrifice on the cross.
6. Redemption.
7. Adoption to be sons and daughters of Almighty God.

No trial on Earth can diminish, steal, or destroy these key points that God has given us to focus on. They provide courage, strength, hope, peace, and ultimately, joy.

Joy isn't necessarily an emotion, even though it can be mixed with the emotion of happiness. Joy is the revelation of truth that comes from the mental comprehension of points 1 through 7. Meditate on what each point means to you and why is that something worth having joy over.

You are a child of God, and that adoption has now empowered you the spiritual weapons to withstand every trial, every tribulation, every temptation, and with God, all things are possible. Amen.
