The Lord makes everything good. Divorce itself is painful. Since my divorce I have been drawn closer to God, especially God the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary. I am fortunate in that I remained Friends with my ex. She has also become closer to Christ since our divorce. It hard to understand The Lords plan at times. But it's nice when He gives you a glimpse and reassures you are on the right path.
Matt 5:32 is rather stern concerning divorce. I was married 38 years, and have no plans to marry again. Not judging anyone, this is just my preference.

I have a bit of a problem...what's the belief here? That the virgin Mary has a role in directing the affairs of men in the Earth?
Most, 90% of people do not read the Bible, so have no idea about the "rules". Having studied the Bible for a very long time, I do not see it as punitive, at least in the OT and the four Gospels. In my opinion, Acts and the rest of the NT goes astray. I think that is where most of the condemnation originates.

Mat 19:3 Some Pharisees came to him in order to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?"

Mat 19:4 He answered them, "Haven't you read that the one who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female'

Mat 19:5 and said, 'That is why a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?

Mat 19:6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate."

Mat 19:7 They asked him, "Why, then, did Moses order us 'to give a certificate of divorce and divorce her'?"

Mat 19:8 He told them, "It was because of your hardness of heart that Moses allowed you to divorce your wives. But from the beginning it was not this way.

Mat 19:9 I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery."

Mat 19:10 His disciples asked him, "If that is the relationship of a man with his wife, it's not worth getting married!"

Mat 19:11 "Not everyone can accept this saying," he replied, "except those to whom celibacy has been granted,

Mat 19:12 because some men are celibate from birth, while some are celibate because they have been made that way by others. Still others are celibate because they have made themselves that way for the sake of the kingdom from heaven. Let anyone accept this who can."

I believe the answer to the question of divorce and remarriage is found here. Remember it was the Pharisees who came to Jesus to trick Him with this question. This speaks of a religious spirit, of works and not of a repentant heart.

The last verse speaks volumes about the nature of men and women, and our hearts desires.

I looked at the Old Testament scriptures about eunuchs. And I believe this is a gift of a walk with God that He gives to the hearts of men and women who are born this way.

My hearts prayer for all who desire a mate, find that one who will love unconditionally, and eternally. That is godly love.

Between Matt 19:12 and Isa. 56:4-5, I am greatly comforted. It gives me permission to live, and only a life pleasing to God. For me, it is clear that Marriage is not an option for me.

I'm of the opinion that man has little idea what the desires of God are. Man is driven by biological drives that we do not seem to have much control over. We try to use the prohibitions of religion to guide us and often fail. We blame "sin nature" or a dozen other things. It seems cruel that we would say that God created us to be sinners so he could punish us.

Hi Katia…pretty name

When I was first born again, I didn’t know the scriptures well. Someone that I was witnessing to asked me why babies that died would go to hell if not baptized. What sin would they have committed?

I had no answer but inwardly turned to the Lord. My mouth opened and I heard myself saying…we are born into sin….but without sin.

That’s without committing a sin. The answer satisfied the questioner. Then I began to see the difference of sinning and the sin nature. Had much to learn and Holy Spirit is the best teacher.

Katia-Also, I want to commend you on your decision as long as it’s your desire like in the Song of Solomon. There’s no other for her who can satisfy her heart and her walk is of the righteousness that comes from Him. She’s enclosed within and without of Him.

I know from experience how the religious spirit is such a harsh dictator. And it’s easy to fall prey to it for I’ve been taught that it’s the nature of man. I tend to agree with this. Man will worship something.

We can't know all the ways of God. I don't agree that babies that die go to hell.

I need to clarify a statement….the religious spirit is the spirit of natural man for man will worship something.

And no, babies that die are safe in the arms of God. There’s a song that says suffering children are safe in His arms. His grace is sufficient!

Quite a thread for welcoming new members.
