Hebrews 4:14-16 KJV
14Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Mercy - compassion, pity
Grace - unmerited favor
Help - assistance

My belief is that we access the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1-2) and we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8) and God helps us by offering salvation (2 Corinthians 6:1-2)

So what do I believe Hebrews 4:14-16 is talking about, then? I think it's talking about asking for mercy, grace, and help when we are feeling weakness and temptation to sin.

Here are some questions:

How do we come boldy to God's throne of grace, what do we need mercy from, and were we receiving grace and help prior to coming to the throne of grace?

Also, how often does someone need to come to the throne: once, several times, or as often as necessary?

At what point is it necessary to return to the throne of grace to obtain mercy, grace, and help?

Is mercy, grace, and help ever lost? If so, why?

Thank you.

Now, Today if you hear His Voice

If you wait for another day - you may end up short and be loaded down with sin, whereby you will not be able to 'Enter IN'.

Here’s an example of someone approaching the throne of grace to help in his time of need

“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭51:1-14, 16-17‬ ‭

only grace can answer that request the law condemned David for his sins but David knew about the mercy of God and approached boldly requesting the lord to
Make it right to make him right

notice David is repenting thoroughly but his requests are about what Gkd can do to wash his sins away , that according to Gods loving kindness he can be forgiven . David had committed adultery and killed a man but he is bold in approaching God for forgivness and his attention is toward what God is able to do to heal and change him

every day we need grace and mercy often it’s when we don’t think we do that we need it most. It helps us against temptation but more THan that seeing God through Christ gives us the knowledge of his mercy and truth his love for us it allows us to know where the throne of grace is located and how to approach it

each day we come up short even if we don’t realize it ourselves so we should in all circumstances approach the throne of Jesus Christ th confidence knowing he’s willing to forgive and remit completely our sins and he’s able to cleanse us from all unrighteousness

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬

the throne of grace lord us into allows us into the cloud with the lord and promises cleansing power found in the light

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”
Psalms 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Isaiah 57:15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Isaiah 66:2 For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

James 4:9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

James 4:10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

Joel 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Our boldness can only be in truly following His Word through His Way that He has asked of us.

2 Corinthians 3:4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:

2 Corinthians 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

2 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Thank you, I was thrilled to see Psalms 51 in your post, Create in me a clean heart, O God;

How do we come boldly to God's throne of grace ... inasmuch as the Lord Jesus Christ is the great High Priest and it is He Who is seated in the heavenlies at the right hand of God, we come boldly to God's throne of grace in the Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that outside of Him, access is barred. We have no approach outside of Him.

What do we need mercy from .... God pardons all our sins, and He is compassionate toward us in our infirmities (vs 15), our sufferings, our afflictions, etc., etc., which we experience in our walk on this earth.

Were we receiving grace and help prior to coming to the throne of grace ... absolutely, positively yes (Matthew 5:45 ... he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust).

I find it interesting that the verse doesn't place any limitation on how often we are to approach the throne of grace. We are encouraged to come in time of need. I don't know about you, but my time of need is more than once a day. In fact, I think we limit the times we come to the Father and I wonder how much grief we go through because we don't come to Father in our time of need ???

In reading the gospels, we see that Jesus spent time alone with the Father. He would go off to a place by Himself and spend time in communion and prayer with Father. As the Lord Jesus Christ is our example, how beneficial would it be for us to go off by ourselves, be alone with God to seek His guidance and counsel?

not sure what you mean by this. are you asking is there ever a time we cannot approach?
