Sounds good what you saying, but I want to say the Bible doesn't cause death, sin does. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Roman 6: 23)
Gen 2:17
Well ok the knowing of good and evil caused death right?...... Paul said: Is the [law = torah] sin?God forbid! And something like the law is holy just,,, still he said it revived sin in him, Maybe the law is the devil??? because we know the new covenant is the eating of Jesus.

If you can't understand by now that Paul talks about two different laws, and you continue to quote and quote Pauls writing then you will be in error. Because you don't understand the Old Testament and what's going on today. God had Peter to clearly warn us about some of Paul’s writing. (2Peter:3:15-16) (v.15) And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; (v.16) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Now take heed to this warning, you can’t ignore all the bible and just concentrate on a hand full of verses out of the writings of Paul. Because some of Paul’s writing is hard to be understood. Paul said in 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. You have to rightly divide the word of truth.
I will only say that I understand Paul's writing, correctly, to be saying that we are forgiven of past, present, and future sins (Romans 4:8, Romans 8:38-39, Hebrews 9:12) as believers who are born again.

This means that the relationship to the law has changed as concerning condemnation (Romans 6:14, Romans 7:4, Galatians 2:19, Romans 7:6; Ephesians 2:15-15, Colossians 2:14, Hebrews 7:18-19, Galatians 5:18).

The law doesn't any longer call the believer in Christ a sinner before the eyes of the Father; for He looks down on us and sees the blood and imputed righteousness of His Son Jesus Christ. The believer is declared righteous before God on the basis of his faith (and not his works)...therefore when he comes in contact with the law, there is no condemnation.

That being said, if anyone is truly born again (regenerated and renewed in the Holy Ghost), he is not the same person that he used to be.

Tit 3:3, For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
Tit 3:4, But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Tit 3:5, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Tit 3:6, Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
Tit 3:7, That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

He or she is obedient as a child of God.

This means that the motivation for obedience is no longer fear, as though the law were an unforgiving taskmaster (as it is to those who are not in Christ); but the motivation now is love, as the person has been given a new heart and a new spirit and therefore the Lord causes him or her to walk in His statutes and in His judgments (Ezekiel 36:25-27).

We obey God because we are born again and our nature has been changed on the inside so that we delight in obeying God.

It is no longer because of any condemnation that might fall on us for disobedience.

As the result, if we should fail or blow it and fall back into sin, there is grace from the Lord to cover over our sin (Romans 4:7-8).

The fact of the matter is, we have been given a new, unshakable identity...that we are righteous....because of our faith...we continue to have this identity even if we should blow it at some point (Romans 4:5).

The exhoration therefore now is, go and live like your identity (1 John 3:7, Romans 5:19, Matthew 5:6).

There is no condemnation for those who fail for as long as they continue to have faith in Jesus (John 6:47).

Of course, faith can be affected by sin (Hebrews 3:7-15); so it is important for us to restore relationship when we sin by confessing our sins unto sanctification (1 John 1:7-9).

U.S.A.
Good Morning all.

When I heard the good news,( that Jesus had died was buried and rose again ascending back to be with the Father, paying for MY SIN DEBT) ,i was grief stricken.

Coming under CONVICTION by the Holy Spirit, I BELIEVED THE WORD, repented of my sins of unbelief, with godly sorrow.

I began seeing myself as he was seeing me.

Accepted his grace by faith,not by any of my OWN merits,confessed by mouth of the glorious nature of HIS GRACE, believed in my heart that I WAS now covered by HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS,I became a born again daughter of God.

I, being grafted in by adoption as a gentile sinner received the GIFT OF SALVATION freely by his grace.

The New Testament being the covenant of that adoption. I began to feast at the word of God,devouring the LOVE, GRACE AND MERCY.

Studying,rightly dividing,and building up my most holy faith praying and seeking in the Holy Ghost.

I can now see with a little more clarity, having been his daughter living only on his word for over 45 years,where some of you are coming from in your beliefs.
There are some of you who are downright brilliant!
Sadly some have been detoured by man's doctrine and have become SET to that thinking.

Having had a very recent eye opening epiphany of the mortality of this house of clay,I humbly ask for a do over with some here.
I am willing to at least hear your views,I ask that you show me the same courtesy as family members!

Personally I believe the three very broad covering commandments given by Jesus.
Love the Lord God with ALL your heart,soul and mind,love your neighbor as yourself and to show our discipleship love one another ad he has loved us!
These cover the only part of the Mosiac Law that we adhere to and cover any and ALL commands given by God under the Old Testament.

Thank you for reading,forgive any run on sentences,and MAY WE DWELL TOGETHER IN UNITY,for the word tells how GOOD and PLEASANT it is!

Do we through out the law because Jesus kept it perfectly, Do we though out the law because grace abounds, does the law have any purpose today? sure we are not able to be Justified by the keeping of the law...but do we make it void?
Hello TMS,

Well, your either keeping the law perfectly, or you're not. Remember, if you break the law in one place, then you've broken the whole law.

As a believer in Christ, I don't even think about keeping the law. I follow Christ! If I fail at anything, i.e. commit sin, I confess it in His name and move on.

What would be the point of there being a new covenant if we were required to keep the old? Jesus spoke a parable about this:

==================================================
"Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst, the wine will spill, and the wineskins will be ruined. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”
=============================================================

I am saying that because we are not under the law that we are free to willfully sin? God forbid! We are just under a new covenant of salvation by grace through faith.

"For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world was not given through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. For if those who live by the law are heirs, faith is useless and the promise is worthless, because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression."

I like NLT's version:

"If God’s promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless. For the law always brings punishment on those who try to obey it. (The only way to avoid breaking the law is to have no law to break!)"

How do you know what sin is, except by the law (Romans 3:20, 1 John 3:4)?

How do you know what sin is, except by the law (Romans 3:20, 1 John 3:4)?
hello justbyfaith,

That doesn't mean that we are under the covenant of the law'

"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Attempting to keep the works of the law puts self in the spotlight. Where having faith in the finished work of Christ puts it on Him.

Paul considered the keeping the works of the law as rubbish:

===============================================================
Watch out for those dogs, those workers of evil, those mutilators of the flesh! 3For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— 4though I myself could have such confidence.
If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin; a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee; 6as to zeal, persecuting the church; as to righteousness in the law, faultless.
7But whatever was gain to me I count as loss for the sake of Christ. 8More than that, I count all things as loss compared to the surpassing excellence of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith.
========================================================================

All of you should know and be in agreement with the fact that we are no longer under the law, but are saved by grace through faith and this not of our own selves. It is the gift of God, not by works.

"God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this (by performing works of the law); it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Here's the amplified version of the above scripture:

"For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; 9not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].

We are in fact under the law to Christ (1 Corinthians 9:21); in that we willingly subject ourselves to the law and are no longer disobedient to its moral tenets.

The law is written on the hearts and minds of New Covenant believers (Hebrews 8:8-10, Hebrews 10:16, Romans 8:7, Romans 8:4, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6, Romans 13:8-10; Romans 5:5; 1 John 2:3-6).

This merely means that because God's love has been shed abroad in our hearts, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us (Romans 5:5, Romans 13:8-10, Romans 8:4).

When we bear the fruit of the Spirit, there is no law that will condemn us in our behaviour (Galatians 5:22-23). This means that we become law-abiding citizens of the kingdom when we bear the fruit of the Spirit and walk according to the Spirit (see also Romans 8:4).

It is a righteousness apart from the law that is nevertheless attested to by the law and the prophets (Romans 3:21) that it is righteousness indeed.

Because we don't obtain it by attempting to obey a set of do's and don'ts, but rather we receive the Holy Spirit by faith and as we bear the fruit of the Spirit, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us (Galatians 5:22-23, Romans 8:4).

While, if we turn away our ears from hearing the law, even our prayer shall be an abomination (Proverbs 28:9) and we will also be blessed if we look into the perfect law of liberty and continue in it (James 1:25).

And therefore, the law, for the believing Christian, is no longer a condemning taskmaster but has now become a set of wisdom principles by which we will be blessed in our lives if we abide by them.

Because as concerning condemnation, believers are no longer under the law (Romans 6:14) are dead to the law (Romans 7:4, Galatians 2:19) and are delivered from the law (Romans 7:6).

Which law are you referring to? Once you learn to identify the two different laws Paul talks about then you will be able to understand Paul writing much better. I'm trying to help you see the two different laws, but you really stuck on how you been taught. You don't even realize that you quote Paul over Jesus. A man asked Jesus this very question, "...What good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?", and Jesus replied, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. (Matthew 19:16-19).

Now let me show you a type a verse you will quote. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. (Gal 2:16).

You think Paul is talking about the same law Jesus is talking in Matthew 19 but it's not. These are two different laws that work together before Jesus died on the cross. When Jesus died on the cross something happen in Matthew 27: 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Let's take a look at that veil in the Scriptures and see how it work with the Commandments.
Now let's begin by taking a look at both of the laws and how they worked together. We will see there were two laws given to Moses, they were the commandments and the sacrificial law. Watch how they worked together.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a soul shall sin through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and shall do against any of them: (Leviticus 4:1-2) The law in the scriptures above is the commandments.

Notice something else very important in these two scriptures. It states, "if a soul shall sin through ignorance." Notice that the scripture did not says on purpose. Why? There is no sacrifice for a sin that is committed willfully. Let's find out what was to be done if a person committed a sin against the Lord unintentionally. Let's skip down to the 27th verse and take a look at the second law (which is the sacrificial law).

And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty; Or if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned. And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering, and slay the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering. And the priest shall take of the blood thereof with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out all the blood thereof at the bottom of the altar. (Leviticus 4:27-30)

When the common people sinned through ignorance and it came to their knowledge, what did they have to do? They brought an offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for their sin which they had committed, then the priest would offer the animal to the Lord. Think about this for a moment. If an animal was killed for a person that committed sin, what will happen to us today if we a trespass against the Lord?

The Bible is telling people to repent, the Bible is telling people to get baptize, and to keep the commandments, which includes the Sabbath day on the seventh day of the week. The Bible tells people what not to eat, how to be Holy and clean, so this what Paul is talking about when in (Phil. 2:12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Now if you need not work to be save, then why is Paul telling you to “WORK” out your own salvation, and pay close attention because he also says with “fear and trembling”. Look at what Jesus says in Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Notice he does not say "work for your salvation with fear and trembling."

He says to work it out. Like a math problem.

A verse that says basically the same thing as Philippians 2:12 is 2 Peter 1:10.

2Pe 1:10, Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Remember that Satan was kicked out of heaven because iniquity (sin) was found in him. And what is sin? The transgression of the law (commandments). Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Now we have just read the biblical definition of sin, the transgression (breaking) of the law (commandments.) It doesn’t matter what you or I think sin is, it’s what God says sin is that counts. If what you are saying is true, then not a lot of us are going to make it into heaven.

Because you are saying that sin is not forgiven if you commit it after you have been born again.

I don't believe that.

I believe that 1 John 1:7-9 is the "Christian's bar of soap".

(Matthew 19:16-19).

No laws that comes from God (Jesus) is of the devil. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8
(1John 3:4)
I will quote it again because it even applies.

Gal 2:16, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

The law being spoken of here is the entire law of Moses and may also include Jesus' teaching on it in the Sermon on the Mount.

No one can keep the commandments apart from placing their trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sins and receiving the Holy Ghost (Galatians 6:13).

Gal 6:13, For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.

Even those who were sticklers for the law couldn't keep the law perfectly.

Gal 3:22, But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Of course, the promise in question is that the one who receives it will be born of God, according to 1 John 3:9.

However, my point is that a person must first be forgiven and receive the Holy Spirit if they are going to be able to measure up to the moral standard of the law.

And in that case, they are not justified through their law-keeping but their law-keeping only serves to make them an effectual witness for Christ (Philemon 1:6).

We are justified solely through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:25, Romans 5:9).

Romans 3:31 ‘Do we then cancel the law through faith? Absolutely not! On the contrary we uphold the law”

How can faith uphold the law?
What does the law have to do with faith?

What does the law have to do with faith?
We receive the Spirit by faith (Galatians 3:14); and when we walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us (Romans 8:4).

And therefore, Galatians 3:12 concerns justification rather than sanctification.

I didn't read all the posts, someone may have already mentioned my response.

Faith upholds the Law by the fact that the Law pointed to Christ.

Man cannot keep the Law of God on his own, by Christ fulfilling the Law in every aspect, by faith in Christ the Law is fulfilled in us, as Paul told us. Therefore, faith in Christ upholds the Law which is Gods standard of righteousness.
