I mean church leadership and sexual misconduct. All you have to do is check The Roys Report and pretty much every day there's a new story about someone getting busted. It's getting so the Catholic church has nothing on Evangelicals.

My thoughts on what's behind this situation: Internet pornography. It used to be fear of exposure and the financial hit of purchasing pornography kept it in check to a certain degree. Now anyone in complete privacy can watch virtually anything they want free.

In my opinion this should be priority number one for the church. If it's not addressed, a lot more people are going to get hurt and a lot of people's faith will end up shipwrecked.

In my view there are to many pastors out there who are no more saved than that squirrel sitting out there on the feeder!

They have never been called by God to preach, but they are receiving that paycheck and being provided many benefits by the church.

I place the blame on the church with itching ears. As a nation we have departed from God, it's down to the individuals now.

The preaching of the law as oppose to the good wholesome preaching of the grace of God in Christ Jesus. "Thou shalt not" 3 of the most powerful incentives to the human flesh to sin that there were.

1 John 3:1-3
King James Version

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

I dont think people can keep it private if its the elephant in the room, someone is bound to SMELL the elephant poo sooner or later.

I totally agree. The body has let this go on. When someone is caught, more often than not the body sides with the perp; or the perp just gets moved somewhere else to do it again.

If someone in leadership is found out to be a sexual predator, they should never again be allowed into a position of authority. There should be a way to do this, and enforced.

You're part of the problem, not the solution. Let someone else do something about. It will eventually get sorted out. (n)

Dealing with people after an offense has occurred is only one aspect of it. The reason I created this thread really though is to talk about how the church has dropped the ball on a very serious problem—lust—and what can be done about it. Lust is at the core of the problem and it's gotten out of control. Every person who is at all concerned about the health of the body of Christ should make this a number one priority. After all, lust was at the center of the problems at Sodom and Gomorrah. We all know what happened there.

If there's going to be a great revival, it should be around this issue.

Let priests marry. You'd be surprised how much an outlet will fix that issue.

According to Scripture every individual church must deal with issues within that church. So there is no generic solution for Christendom. See the letters to the seven churches.

I'm not so sure it would. It might stop some of it, but many sex offenders are married, with families of their own; the last people you'd suspect. It's an unfortunate truth that many sex offenders marry and have children so they can molest them. The problem isn't celibacy, it's lust and sexual perversion.

There will be no great revival since Christendom is going more and more into apostasy. Even the evangelical and fundamentalist churches are not adhering to Bible doctrine and practice, and "the world" has crept into the churches.

I said that mostly tongue-in-cheek. I just mean if we're going to get excited about one issue in the body of Christ today, this should be it. It's a silent epidemic. By that I mean the underlying problem is mostly silent. No one want to address the real issue: men who have lust issues and no self-control.

while i agree with you about many pastors,
i don't know why you would make such an accusation towards that squirrel!

revival depends on God, not man.

I love my squirrels, I guess there's 20 or more that come to the feeders.

I'll have to repent for that!

Most women know to avoid anyone with issues of lust
its why many women will attend ladies only bible studies because some men keep staring at them in mixed company.

I dont think its that women really want our own group all the time....its cos some men cant control themselves and its completely OBVIOUS...what are we women meant to do about it?

if we report sexual harassment more often than not it goes nowhere because the male heirarchy just accept it and then blame the WOMEN.

It has always been that way since Jesus stopped the men from stoning the women caught in adultery...when the men were ready to stone her he just asked them were they without sin?
