Well I'm mistaken then, Gene Autry wrote it. Sorry, my bad.
No need to get sarcastic. I just don’t get the notion of turning something that is really a non issue and pretty much harmless into a form of iconolatry.

Yes, Christmas is a secular holiday as well unfortunately. That does not mean that Christians should abstain from Christmas songs or shun them.
Should Christians participate in a lie? To many children, Santa is the truth.

That’s not what I am alluding to. Should children know that the concept of Santa is fake? Of course. The issue I see is taking apart every aspect of Christmas that some Christians my disagree with. And it’s more of an annoyance when they come from a holier than thou perspective with regards to it. The Poster of this seems to equate a song written long ago as some sinister attempt to deify Santa. That’s nonsense.

Christmas is 100% about the birth of Christ, when God became flesh and dwelt among us. Everything else should be eliminated.

Whether everything is eliminated is purely ones own decision for themselves. If you find having a Christmas to be offensive as some do, don’t put one up. Gift giving, if you feel that it indulges materialism, don’t give or accept gifts.

Yes, let the focus be on the birth of the Savior and keep it on him. If you want to partake in some festivities, do so as long as it’s not leading to iniquities.

Has anyone actually listened to the words of "Here Comes Santa Claus? I was sitting on a transit bus this morning idly listening to it playing. Then out of nowhere the last stanza played:

He is a miracle come to all if we just follow the light
So let's give thanks to the Lord above, 'cause Santa Claus comes tonight
So let's give thanks to the Lord above, 'cause Santa Claus comes tonight

Wow. I've heard that song a million times but never caught that. But Christmas is a harmless holiday and fun for the kids so I should probably just ignore it.
One of the most shattering experiences of my childhood was when I found out that Santa was not real. I refused to tell my kids the Santa myth for that reason. I felt let down, lied to and betrayed. Which in reality, I was.

I learned that parents lie. I learned not to trust them completely. I don't believe that is harmless.

Yes, and an American realised that you can make a lot of money out of Christmas. It did not take long for the rest of the commercial world to catch on.

Oh, beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain, for purple mountains majesty, above the fruited plains, America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!
