Wisdom sits in the Gate and observes the goings out, and the comings in.
She sees the young man pass through the Gate into the darkness.
And she sees the harlot who sits outside the Gate with a lamp.
She sees the young man return through the Gate in the dawn light.
She speaks no words, but she remembers.
And if any man will ask of her, ‘What is it?’
She will say, ‘I know, I saw and I understood.”

Then the one who asks will say, ‘Wisdom how deep is your well!’
‘How sweet the waters of your understanding!’
‘I will drink and I will not pass through the Gate in the darkness.’
‘I will sleep in my bed.’
‘And when it is time, I will rise early and greet the Lord.’

Wisdom sits in the gate and observes the goings out, and the coming in.
She comprehends the things which have been, which are and which are to come.
And if any man will ask of her, ‘What is it?’
She will say, ‘I know, I saw and I understood.”
‘I saw Him ascend into the heavens a Lamb newly slain.’

‘And I heard a new song.’
‘Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open the seals thereof.’
‘For thou wast slain and did purchase unto God with thy blood,’
‘Men of every tribe, and tongue, and people and nation’.
‘And madest them to be unto our God a kingdom and priests.’
‘And they reign upon the earth.’

Then the one who asks will say, ‘Wisdom how deep is your well!’
‘How sweet the waters of your understanding!’
‘I will drink and I will not sleep in the darkness, but will stay awake.’
‘That I might comprehend the time of His coming.’
