What is in your fridge?

Just being nosy!

Is it leftovers? Milk? Butter? Ketchup? Anything unusual or something you've completely forgotten about?

Is your refrigerator running? If so you better go catch it!

ok nobody has answered yet but will tell you whats in my household. Actually there are FOUR fridges (only two work though)

One fridge or fridge/freezer has food in it like icecream (very important this summer) , 'baby boomer' milk, cheese and butter. I dont think we will ever run out of dairy as dad is forever buying it like he would die without it. Or the entire country would collapse, because basically it is the land of milk and honey (more milk than honey though) . There is always a tin of catfood.

The other fridge is not working but is a pantry with jars of spices and pickles and I dont even know what. Ask mum about that.

Then theres another fridge in the garage that is actually a freezer and Im sure my rhubarb is in there must be very old by now but its frozen so must keep forever. I think theres some frozen tangelo or lemon juice in there.

Then theres another fridge that is out in the street I look after and that is full of BOOKS.


we do stick stuff with magnets on the fridge, ours has a gardening calendar and a tide calendar and various phone numbers.

I saw one of my friends fridges and she had covered hers with family photos, another friend had postcards from around the world. My brothers have absolutely nothing on their fridge because they are boring! I think they just like the look of metal as their fridge is silver metal coloured... its not even whiteware. It matches their metal coloured oven and dishwasher. When I look inside it always seems to have grapes and beer in it...and leftover food growing fuzz. No judging! Its just whenever go there they never seem to have any food (that is edible) and so if we are to have dinner we need to do a big shop beforehand or order something in.

As its summer here it would be great to have one of those walk in fridges they have in takeaway/restaurants just to hang out for a bit. haha I can dream.

childrens books always seem to have magic school buses, magic cupboards under the stairs, magic wardrobes...but I have yet to read one that is about a magic fridge....though with the popularity of Disney's Frozen you woukd think people would pay more attention to just how magical a fridge really is.

Fridge 1: Vegetables, bread, butter, milk, cream, fruits, yoghurt, a range of meats, icecream.

Fridge 2: leftovers, chocolates, and range of meats.

We call our fridge Resurrection city, cuz we put stuff in and take it out 3 months later covered with new life.

Not really. I eat leftovers before they go bad. But it's fun to say that.

used to keep bread in the bread bin but it goes mouldy in the heat so keep it in the fridge or freeze it.

However for some strange reason, mum now keeps her eggs in the fridge but they turn green when she does that.

Also, keeping food in tins isnt healthy I heard as soon as you open them you are meant to eat all the contents or transfer them to another covered container. Something to do with the metals being exposed to air and oxidisation.

Wait, what?

Are we talking about uncooked eggs in the shell or cooked (scrambled, fried, poached, etc.) eggs? I've heard of scrambled eggs turning green after a couple hours on the hotbar.

Y'all are spoiled if you have more than one fridge. Who has the role of inventory manager? lol Some place dates on leftovers for the sake of science experiments.
My fridge is very small. Under the counter version. I have no room for leftovers to die and resurrect themselves into cold and smelly slime. I do make large meals which will last about 4 meals but I never eat the same meal two days in a row. I only have one leftover meal and that is the mushroom pot roast I made for myself on Christmas Day. Can't freeze any leftovers as none of my containers will fit in the freezer portion. Other items in the fridge are the milk, eggs, cheese, cream, fruit, breads and soda cans. Biggest item is the large container holding cold water throughout the year.

Some may be spoiled. Some may have large families. Ever have a family of five and try to operate with a micro fridge? Some may work at a food place and take leftovers home and need more fridge space. Some may have friends in need that they feed out of those refrigerators.

Spoiled?

in school staffroom, there are two fridges. One has just milk.
The other holds all our lunches we bought from home, and the freezer compartment has icepacks. (many children get battered and bruised on the playground and need icepacks)

I reckon we should appreciate our fridges more over smartphones and computers. Imagine life with no fridges.

If we had no fridges I would cook smaller meals and eat out of cans a lot. If we had no smartphone.. how do you replace that?

it need to set, but we dont have any fancy jelly moulds. Just eat it from a bowl.

tip...when making jelly make sure you fridge isnt full so you have room for the bowl. lol

I read this book called Frozen Dinners. It was a memoir about this company called Ambrose in the US and they had a fleet of refrigerated trucks. They transported frozen TV dinners from state to state and had built up a whole fleet of them. It was a muti million dollar company before the eldest first born son took over from his dad and ran it to the ground.

The daughter wrote that her dad started this company from nothing but an idea...he also irrigated Idaho land to grow potatoes with a spinkler system. That got made into McDonlds french fries.

I was thinking I have never actually had a frozen tv dinner, the kind where its already cooked but frozen in little compartments, like what you would get on an airplane.

Also, I dont eat in front of the tv. They all look a bit unappetising to me. I think frozen food loses all its flavour. It really has nothing on fresh. Would only eat it as a last resort if there was nothing else left in the fridge.
