Are you going through a desert? Cheer up! Jesus is closer than ever.

In the Old Testament, the priest used to burn incense every sunrise and sunset, when the lamps should be put in order (Exo 30:7,8), symbolizing that Jesus will come with the clouds (2Thess 2:7,8):

• For those who have a bad demeanor, He will take vengeance on these who do not know God and do not obey His gospel;
• For those who love Jesus, He will manifest the sweet fragrance of His ken (2Cor 2:14-16).

Note that it is emphasized the coming from the wilderness. In several passages we see the Creator acting in the wilderness:

1 – In order to humble us and show to principalities and potentates (see Eph 3:10) if we will be able to keep His commandments:

• Deu 8:2 -> “And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not.”.

And how He love when we follow Him, even when, apparently, there is no reason for this:

• Jer 2:2 -> “Go and proclaim in the hearing of Jerusalem, Thus says the LORD, “I remember the devotion of your youth, your love as a bride, how you followed me in the wilderness, in a land not sown.

2 – To transform the reality of the wilderness:

• Isa 43:19 -> “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

3 – In order to provide supply for His people:

• Jer 31:2 -> “Thus saith Jehovah, The people that were left of the sword found favor in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.”.
• Rev 12:6 -> “and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days.”.
• Rev 12:14 -> “But the woman was given the two wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time.”.

So, have a splendid day praising Jesus while you are undergoing some tribulation. Even though you didn’t see Him, He promised never leave those who love Him (Mat 28:20). It is in these moments that He is closer.
