After 20 years together my wife and I are getting divorced. I feel very lost and troubled and not sure how I am going to get through this. Any words of advice would be appreciated.
Just remember that Jesus loves you, and when He is all you've got, He is all you need.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Finding Jesus is the only thing that has got me through this. I have a lot of growing to do as a Christian and I have had a lot of doubts.

Isaiah
53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Dear brother, I have been a bachelor all my life, I always wanted to be single, I revel to be alone even though I love people. I can't imagine ever sharing my life with another person.

This should make me the most unqualified person in the world to be able to offer you any counsel. But yet there is a key to all this. I have an extraordinary fellowship with God, with Jesus, with the Holy Ghost.

He is with me each and every hour, He makes His presence known in a thousand ways. I share everything with Him as other people share everything with their partners.

You have to want this for it to happen. He will draw especially close to you. That is my prayer right now for you.

"Lord in Thy presence is FULNESS of joy."

I'm going through heartbreak myself right now. I'm struggling to get through it and seriously depressed. I miss having someone to talk to all the time. Anyhow, you'll see me chatting in the forums here to distract myself and look for encouragement. I can't tell you how to get through it because I'm there with you. I can tell you that God has gotten us through every trial before, and He'll get us through this, too. We just have to keep holding onto Him, even though it still hurts. Praying for you.

Welcome 😊

The complexities behind a relationship breakdown can be numerous and profound, and usually need to be unravelled over time. As far as Christian marriages are concerned, whatever the outcome it must be honourable to God. This is why the privacy and good counsel from/with your pastor and perhaps other qualified Christian relationship counsellors is so important for your understanding the situation you are in, and the way forward from a godly perspective.

I'm not saying that the anecdotal advice you will receive from fellow members of this group is unhelpful, obviously it is. But for pointed and qualified advice there needs to be a close scrutiny of your situation, and of you and ideally of your partner too, before truly qualified advice can be given. I would have liked access to that when I went through a marriage breakdown many years ago, but such a service was not available. So I had to do my self analysis, and marriage analysis, and with the counsel of the Holy Spirit acquired through prayer, reading the Bible and other literature for instruction, particularly on what it takes to be a good spouse, I have learnt through that process and have pressed forward from there.
