Checking Out the Site

I have been looking for Christian social media stuff for a bit. My oldest son will need to learn how to use the internet more thoroughly soon.
I am 25 (hopefully put that in correctly) and I've been married for years. We're in a particular Baptist church. I was home schooled and I homeschool with the help of my husband and church members. That's my primary reason to be here, too look at Christian education stuff. My husband is very particular and I don't have a lot of free time but we are trying to structure more religious education into things (we use Ron Paul Homeschool).

My husband could probably do home schooling off the top of his head, he is like a human encyclopedia. It's not so much the content I need but the structure to keep me straight.

We did not homeschool our boys. They attended public schools and have been on their own for some time now. However with the drugs, violence etc...and even shootings that take place nowadays, we would definitly have homeschooled them.

However with homeschooling there is less interacting (socialization) with other children which is most important in adulthood. This interaction could be accomplished by joining a girl/boy scout troop, sunday school attendance, summer camps (sponsored perhaps by your church), etc.

Homeschooling is a great gift that parents can give to their children.

We have about twenty families in our church, depending on how you count relations, and many of us homeschool so we get a lot of social interaction (although my husband is something of a hermit on his own). I don't think it's necessarily true that kids get socialized in school so much that because church and community have disintegrated that there's nowhere else people meet. I think it's important to meet people and network with Christians where we live so we don't end up relying on a bureaucracy to socialize our children.

Hello and Welcome Jeltja. Since my wife and I homeschool our grandsons, I believe I can give you some ideas on structure:
(1) "Bible Knowledge" which should include (a) memory work from the KJV and (b) focus on the Christ - His birth, life, death, burial, and resurrection (with Gospel content throughout);
(2) Mathematics (multiplication tables are essential)
(3) English (a) reading, (b) grammar, (c) composition, (d) spelling (Phonics based), and (e) penmanship.
(4) History
(5) Geography
(6) Science
(7) Arts and Crafts

Bible, English and Mathematics should be on a daily basis. The others once or twice or thrice a week.
