yeah

only John was not writing to unbelievers. He was writing to Christians

I am curious though. do you count yourself among all those Christians without armor or are you giving everyone else what for again, while standing on an observation deck from miles away
“only John was not writing to unbelievers. He was writing to Christians”

This chapter too ?

“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning.

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.”

The Just Man wets his pillow with tears begging God to overcome habits when he falls, and eventually he overcomes. There's forgiveness from here to the end to time for the Just Man.

The Presumptuous Man with his OSAS License to Sin who not only refuses to "confess" and "forsake" his sin, but intends to carry them up to the moment he enters the pearly gates is going to wake up in the wrong resurrection.
Thats just a theory. Philosophy at best and speculation in all likelihood. Where are you standing on the issue of sin? In a tower - a watchman or in the gate - a prophet?

If we are to claim we have our on the new man made in the image of Christ we can’t keep Living like we used to we have to really be the elect me look for true righteousness and holiness at times it’s a good thing to acknolwedge

ummm

how can you be more of what you are if you are that very thing?

and what is true righteousness? only God is righteous...have you never heard of the 'righteousness of God in Christ?

that is what we should understand as our righteousness and not something we can take loose if we sin or forget to say prayers before bed time

this yelling at people about their sin has no effect. if it did, the OT prophets would have lost their job soon after starting

The Just Man wets his pillow with tears at night begging God for power to overcome shameful habits, and eventually does...there's inexhaustible mercy to cover that Just Man.

However, the Presumptuous Man with his OSAS License to Sin who not only refuses to "confess" and "forsake" his sin, but intends to carry them up to the moment he enters the pearly gates is in danger of waking up in the wrong resurrection.
That statement "license to sin" is stupid and a term invented by those who trust in their works for salvation instead of Jesus and the price He paid on the cross.

First the foundation and then the house. @Evmur spoke of the foundation. You are speaking of the house. They are not in conflict so we ought not to be citing the Scripture as though they were - unless we are in conflict and believe that we can sin always and escape giving an account. If that is so then how will you know it on a forum?

why do you keep shouting at everyone over and over again about the devil and sin?

has the Good News been lost to you?

it's the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. if you are in Christ, old things are passed away and all things have become new

have you ever considered being a street preacher? you seem to have the volume for it

I agree he was addressing true believers, but surely an imperfect church - like those Corinthians who were doing things not named among the Gentiles - could have had a few "Trumps" who felt no need to confess sin, right or wrong?

Make no mistake: Scripture doesn't say the Christian is one who simultaneously sins and doesn't sin - it tells us the Christian is a Just Man who falls 7 times and rises up again - he doesn't climb down deliberately into the pit, sit comfortable, swat the uplifting hand of Jesus, and shove a OSAS License to Sin in His face.

Proverbs 24:16 is a theory?

Psalms 19:13 too?

The one is "just" while the other is "innocent" only by being kept back from presumptuous sin.

yeah there are two kinds of grace mentioned in scripture one is of God and offers salvation it comes with the teachings about denying ungodliness and worldly lusts and living upright lives in this world

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-15‬ ‭

that’s Gods grace that comes through Christ the truth

and then there’s a distortion of grace that removes the repentance from sin and teaching of upright living a liscence to sin

“For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I’m not thinking anyone here is creating a liscence to sin , I believe many just haven’t heard the truth of Gods grace as of yet . But there is true grace coming from this source

“And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.

For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we have grace that works in conjunction with the word of truth leading to real repentance and upright living all because we believe the truth and accept it

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

grave and truth together is what saves us grace that teaches us repentance and right living and when we reject the truth we’re left to a deception claiming to be grave that ignores repentance and right living

people don’t repent until they understand sin is deadly materially to the soul of man

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if we reject that well Never have a reason to repent , if we accept it we’re going to repent of for no other reason than self preservation . To recognize what sin is and that it’s of Satan is what we should believe and what will press our heart and mind forward into Gods saving grace

truly you could not be more wrong. Jesus, speaking to His disciples at what we refer to as 'the last supper', assures them He will be preparing a place for them in 'heaven'

1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well. 2In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.”

there are many verses to reflect on that assure us we do know whether or not we will see our Savior such as this one:

20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.
Philippians 3: 20-21

who’s yelling at you ? I asked a simple question and you doin a circle you said plainly John wrote this to Christians

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:7-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

my question to you which wasn’t yelled lol was is this also John writing to Christians or not ?

“And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:5-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

was a simple question was John still writing to Christians as you accurately said about chapter 1?

backpeddle away. much of the NT was written to correct error...Paul still called everyone saints but for the Galatians. We do not make ourselves saints and pushing people away from sanctification by continually railing against them is not what we are called to do either

no matter the sin or problem, Paul always encouraged. try it some time

Please don't confuse my words. Cannot a husband who loves his wife dearly be grieved almost to death for having been unfaithful?

A wise preacher once said our repentance should be equal to the greviousness of the sin we've committed - never out of fear of losing salvation, but for having hurt the one you love so dearly.

yes they go together God has made it simple for us out all our Hope and faith in Jesus Christ and his word and follow where he leads us and we will live forever with him

we don’t want to confuse people who don’t know yet , with those who will never know however we have to remember the time when we didn’t know and couldn’t hear certain things

I remember being in the same position some others are it’s hard to hear the word when we don’t understand the language yet. I believe with all
My heart anyone who truly believes in Jesus as he presented himself in scripture will surely be saved

but if we reject what he offered of himself we can’t be saved

I can remember when I didn’t know though it wasn’t that I was against the truth but I hadn’t developed ears to hear the thkngs that make us grow yet I could have been saying these same thkngs ifnthere was a forum back then would have made the same arguments they make

but now I understand it was just that I didn’t have ears tonhesr fully developed there’s a season and time for it all and we are saved from One faith tonthe next as we grow but we can rely fully on Jesus ability to bring us into glory and eternal
Life in fact we must believe that before we’ll ever begin to hear and follow him

I can still relate to what’s in the mind of the immature I remember when I was there too

truth saves us step by step but if we believe in Jesus truly we’re going to be saved according to his own immovable will we just need to let him reslly be our lord and savior and accept his decrees as our king

we are not talking about hyper grace or greasy grace

again, who are the THEY?

unless you count yourself among the theys, scripture would testify of hypocrisy on your account, even with all the tassels and pomegranates you can muster

Sure, there's many Christians who think grace covers presumption - they think they're "more than conquerors" while being overrun by the enemy. The problem is they're recruiting unsuspecting new people everyday to join their defeated Presumptuous Man army.
