Y'all know me, I never post serious threads, but lately I've had the fruits of the Spirit on my mind. According to the scripture, you can tell a Christian by their fruits. I sit back alot of times and watch the interactions by Christians on here, on facebook and in real life and I feel like sometimes we are a few fruits short.

Now with this being said, Im not saying we cant have emotions. I get angry, I get petty sometimes I get short tempered and I have to stop and ask myself.. "self, are you being gentle? Are you being long suffering ?? Are you showing mercy ? "

What I want to know is...do you struggle with any of these fruits specifically ? If so, how do you work on it ?

Just as a reminder.... here are the fruits

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Love you all ♡♡♡
I've pretty much mastered them all, which I say with all due humility. Sometimes I just have to give myself a pat on my own back in self-congratulations.

Anyone else feel that way?

But, I struggle with sexual lust, sinful pride, forgiveness, loving enemies, gratitude, envy, and I could go on.

What do I do? Resist the temptation to give in to the sinful nature as much as I am able, and pray every night for progressive sanctification. There is little else I can do. I don't expose myself to situations that could cause me problems in any of these areas -- with the exception of the gym and the increasingly pagan ways women are dressing while working out. But, I counteract that by looking at my sneakers and a studying the ceiling. A lot :D

Thees a fruit and vege shop on the main road called 'Fruit World' and someone had painted the Galatians 5:22 verse on the wall above the shop above pictures of all different kinds of fruits
its still there

The other fruit and vege shop on the opposite side of the main road closed down and people said the quality of their fruit and veges was really bad.

Well I am a bit of a worrier of both small and big things, this is probably connected to faith. I do have a verse on worry on my phone screen which I put up recently, so I see that probably about at least a dozen times a day and I believe that calms me.

What a great topic! Indeed one of the best ways to see if someone is a disciple of Jesus is by showing the fruits of the spirit. I’d say the one area I need to work on the most is joy. I have lots of peace and patience but the one area I wish I had more of was joy. The Bible says the joy of the Lord is our strength and need to tap into that joy! 😀

The fruit of the Spirit's not a coconut
The fruit of the Spirit's not a coconut
If you wanna be a coconut
Ya might as well hear it
You can't be a fruit of the Spirit

I usually ask myself "Why are you doing this?" If I figure out why, I can decide if I'm bearing fruit or just being a selfish nut.

(That "Why" question gets in the way of a lot of my fun. A lot of times I have to stop doing what I was doing.) :cautious:

About them fruits... Ever notice the order they are listed in?

The first one is love. You don't got love, you don't got no motivation for all the others. Why would you bother developing them if you don't care about the people around you?

The last one is self control. You can't hope to control yourself until you master all the others.

(I'm not even gonna talk about patience. It's learned, not a magic gift. That's why I get trials when I pray for patience, to teach me it.)

It is so strange that you would ask such a question…..

I don’t believe in coincidence…. but I am thinking.... what are the odds of you asking that question and having the one person who epitomizes the fruit of the spirit in his walk and exemplifies the walk of resurrection perfection. …
I am not saying I am perfect …..well ….I guess maybe I am. I do intentionally make spelling errors ....and I frown once in a while to show others I have imperfections. But I would be interested to know what it is like to struggle with those fruity things and…just how you cope with it…..

I am dodging lightning bolts right now, so I have to sign off
Psst! You overplayed the part.

I got the joke, but I think you confused a lot of people. Maybe next time use some smilies to indicate you're joking.

I'm going to play a Lanolin card:

Fruitcake... Hmm... I've known some "Christians" who were fruitcake. Their fruit was shriveled and nasty, but they covered it up by trying to act icky sweet.

longsuffering has been a fruit that I dont really like biting into. I imagine its one of those sour fruits or one that just takes ages to eat.

It's definitely an acquired taste.

Then there are those who show off how much they enjoy it, kind of like people who take pride in drinking really strong coffee or eating really strong chocolate.

oh a serious post. The title made it sound funny. Well i am in the text zone. Well if you believe the Holy Spirt is your friend you can talk to and be lead by in a more interactive way. Then the Holy Spirit is the root to the fruits. Not that I am a pro at this, but spending time with the Holy Spirit and letting the Holy Spirit renew you mind. It will actual change your mind where the fruits will be more natural part of who you are. If you slip up it is just fine, just spend time with the Holy Spirt. Not sure this will work with Baptist types. Maybe one will jump in and let us know. Remember we are new creation with the Holy Spirit, and this leads to renewing our minds. I feel a little hypocritical be typing this. Please be gentle.
