Hey Brother, what's the thumb down for???

Were you saved by religion or by the Sacrifice of Christ who shed His Blood for our sins.................

Jewish Holy Days are awesome as they Speak of Messiah/Christ.

Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come— In the volume of the book it is written of Me— To do Your will, O God.’ ”

I should of asked kenallen if he/she is Jewish and if so = AWESOME

Peace

PS = You never answered my question and it's been 5 days now.
Any time i see even a hint of conformity it bothers me. I would never tell anyone do this do that . The Lord will lead in all truth.

100% AGREE and so does the Apostle Paul who wrote the following:

"Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God."

Thank You Brother for the loving reminder.

I am new here and new to being a christian. I have not found a church not sure I want one if you read my hello post you know my background. Where do I start to read my bible? New testament Old testament or just open it. I am reading some of these posts and I am lost. Who do you listen to?
G'day KA, and welcome to Christian Chat.

When I was searching in similar fashion to yourself, God led me to ask the same question of a Christian guy in my workplace, who suggested I ought start reading from John's Gospel, which I did.

As I read on, God dribbled understandings of Him and the Lord Jesus' ministry into my mind, and He eventually lifted the shutters of ignorance off it that were put there by man-made religion and the world. That was my spiritual birth, my born again experience. Over the ensuing days and weeks I continued reading on until I came to the Book of Revelations, which I found a bit heavy to grasp. So I left that and went to the start of the New Testament, and read forward from Matthew's gospel, and onwards.

Over the years I've read both the Old and New Testament books many times over, and still delight in doing so. I now mostly read the 1995 Revision of the New American Standard Bible as it is touted by many as being the most accurate of translations into contemporary English, but yet retains the original contexts.

Upon my spiritual birth, God instantly gave me membership to His church, which has no association with any denomination or organised religion. I've left it that way ever since, ie from 1983 onwards.

If you can find a church group that has no association with any denomination and non-denominational church organisations, and that meet together regularly with no formal religious agenda but are more concerned about caring for each other, stay with that group unless you find them preaching a different gospel to the one Jesus gave, and that the apostles reiterated.

I was born into a denominational environment, and was baptised into it as a child. That didn't make me a Christian, but made me into a religious ignorant.

Feel free to PM me if you wish to chat direct.

Depends which ones you listen to. Everything given to the Hebrew/Israeli/Jewish people from God pointed forward to the reality that would be found in Christ, yet many Jews to this day reject Him as their promised Messiah Who fulfilled hundreds of prophesies concerning His birth, life, ministry, death, and resurrection. Not all Jews even believe in God, let alone Jesus Christ.
My point my colorful saint is that to point out something that is in God's word all through the gospel and told to avoid it imo is wrong. We do not know where one may be lead.

Do not confuse yourself with trying to understand the Jewish customs of when Christ walked the earth.
Traditions, customs, holy days and rituals cannot save anyone nor make a person clean before God.
Exactly. And how do we know this? There is neither male, female, Greek or Jew, slave or free in Christ.

After all Jesus and most of his followers mentioned in the gospels were jews.....what would they know?
Glad you asked.

This is what the Jewish Messiah and the Jewish Apostles know and wrote about as the Most Important Message of Christ.

JESUS is the true Light who gives light to every man coming into the world.
He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
But to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God
— children born not of blood, nor of the desire or will of man, but born of God
.

sort of depends on what church you would like to go to if you did go to a church. Most churches teach out of the bible. Maybe the church you got saved at might be what you like. I will talk about that if that would help. I know a little about each main stream churches. there are lots of different types of church, so you will get all kinds of answers. more then likely we can find one that works for you.

Kenallen,

To avoid all unnecessary confusion start your journey in the Gospel of John.
You can also read Genesis chapters 1-3 just as a foundation.

Prayer to the Lord is most important - just open your heart to Him each morning and everytime you read His word.
Ask the Lord to assist you and He will guide your steps.

Warning: Stay away from jehovah witnesses as they hold to a falsehood and deny the Lord Jesus even though they confess His name.
yeah this guy says good stuff from what i have seen.
Pray is key. I talk to God like a friend, better then doing some formula pray. God already know you , no fancy prayer will impress God. Hanging out with God praying/talking is best. Yeah read bible.
