Tonight I went to a church event for women. I am in Discipleship 1 with a group of people and the ladies of my group all went to this event. I made better friends with them and made some new friends as well, which is hard for me due to my mental illness. When I got sick, I lost all my friends and lost my close relationship I had with my siblings. Now I'm making new friends and it feels WONDERFUL! I just wanted to share a positive story because I don't hear much of them. Part of me wants to stay at home and never go out; but I fight those feelings with Christ and he conquers them for me; and has so far. It feels good to finally make friends as a grown up that I didn't have as a teenager/young adult. I have online friends too; but there is something about having close friends IRL that means so much. And tonights fellowship meant alot to me. I praise God for it!

its important to keep making friends, dont let getting sick/ill stop you..you are going to recover.
You may not always have the same friends but there will be some that will stick with you through thick and thin...these are your true brothers and sisters and they will understand if you cant always make things.

I just wanted to share a positive story because I don't hear much of them.
Positive news doesn't get nearly as many ratings as negative news, and it's all about ratings.

That's not sarcastic or even facetious... It's just the way people are. They play negative news so much because it's MUCH more popular.

"Tell me a story with a happy ending
Sing me a happy song
I've had enough of trouble and sorrow
I know that the world's gone wrong
But the Bible is a book with a happy ending
The saints in Heaven fair"

It was a fellowship meeting for women. We played games, ate appetizers and got to know eachother!
So were these like the social board and card games, the something to do to give you an excuse to hang around and talk type of thing? Because if you're playing the 2+ hour strategy games I'm on the next flight out and moving so I can go to that church (and beat all the ladies in board games; men too, I'm not picky about who I'm beating in board games (or who beats me, it does happen sometimes)
).

due to my mental illness
You kinda' casually threw that out there lol... Hope it's nothing to worry about.
Be wary of Doctors who throw prescriptions at you. If you don't need'em, don't take'em!

It seems ANYBODY can have a "mental illness" these days... Just thinking out loud :geek:

I'm open about some of my issues. I have schizoaffective disorder and was out of touch with reality for over a year. talking to myself and hearing voices and seeing things. it was bad. I know the truth of what I went through and I know what happens to me when I don't have meds.

Did you say board games? Boy have I got the place for you! It's called McKay's used book store. They got a medium size town's library worth of used books, as well as a lot of music on the second floor... And anime... And used musical instruments... And a whole bin of random assorted legos for some reason... Old game consoles... Aaaaaaaaand...

Lol no! We played a game where we got into groups depending on what service we went to and had to find three ladies and find three things in common we had with them
