The greatest gift from God to man is forgiveness.
It came in the form of a man. Who lived, died and rose again according to scripture.
He is the way, the truth, the life. His blood washed away the sins of the world.
For the work of the father was to beleive the son of whom he sent, and the work of the son was to glorify the father, and the father is well pleased in him.
For this son did not come to be served but to serve. He had not come to condemn and destroy but to save and restore.
This he did not do for his own sake but for those who beleive and obey.
For it was the fathers good pleasure to give us the kingdom. The kingdom of righteousness, and holiness, that shall never end.
So for the glory that was set before him he endured the cross, for yet while we were sinners he died for us.
That upon the third day according to scripture he rose from the dead giving testimony to the truth that was in him.

Hebrews 12:1-3

The greatest gift from God is his love, it was from his love that the scriptures were written it is from his love that salvation is given it was from his love that his son was given and it is from his love that all creation exists, scripture is a product of his love grace is a product of his love salvation is a product of his love it all boils down to one thing one true gift that no other can best
You would not know about love, salvation,Heaven ,Hell,God's Holiness, who Jesus is, what He has accomplished.
Scripture is given to instruct us and give us all we need to know.

So. If Joseph Smith told you by word of mouth that Jesus and Lucifer were half brothers that would be okay with you?
Total red herring. Joseph Smith could’ve lived 2000 years ago and wrote the exact same thing you just stated and you would believe it because it was written down.

Actually, there is a lot of things that assist in our salvation and both knowing scriptures and faith are aids. Then there is a list of many other things, knowing the Father, the Son, repentance, baptism into a clean life, etc...
I agree with you completely, but the OP is stating the written Word is the greatest gift God has given us and I disagree.

You would be wrong in your assumption about this, i met him as a young child when i was in my abusive home it was the first time i ever knew warmth and love he came to me before i ever knew what the bible was or what salvation was, scripture as i said is a product of his love without him and his love there is no scripture

It was not an ordeal it was a blessing I got to experience his love first hand to the degree that my body could not handle it it. to truly know God is to know his love, to truly know the scriptures is to know God but you cannot know the scriptures without knowing God you cannot know God without knowing his love and so his greeatest gift is in fact his love because his love is him himself in which he poured his spirit and being into the scriptures he breathed.

The 66 books of the Bible is the greatest Gift God has given to mankind.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
I would say that GODs greatest gift to man was Grace through faith.

If JESUS were to come walking around the street corner, some would run up to him and hug and CLING to his shadow Instead of hugging and clinging to JESUS himself.

Gee, and all this time I thought God's greatest gift to man was His Son.

PS: In context, the scripture you quoted would be only speaking of the Old Testament since the New Testament hadn't been compiled yet.
amen and amen

Why would you run up to a person on the street and hug them or their shadow?
Which Jesus are you speaking about?
Who is Jesus?
What did He do?
Is it the Christian Jesus?
The Mormon jesus?
The JW. Jesus?

What gives you the idea it was His Son?
Does God have a Son?
What did the Son do?
Where do you learn of any of these things

You describe an experience of feeling love, before you were saved or knew anything about Jesus.
This is doubtful.
You can claim whatever you want...but this is not found in scripture

Mormons make a similar claim that if you read the book of Mormon you will feel a burning in the bosom.
They claim they feel thid but are not yet Christians.

And yet Paul encountered Christ himself before he knew the gospel of Jesus Christ, Mary who has no record of knowing the scriptures encountered an angel and was chosen by God to bear his child,Moses knowing nothing of the hebrew God encountered God and was chosen to be his prophet. You doubt because you have not experienced it for yourself and because you do not know his love in this way, but those who know his love know what i speak of. His love is unlike anything in this world, it pierces your heart and soul it makes you fall head over heels for him over and over again it melts your heart and brings you into a state of warmth and a sense of home it is more than an emotion or feeling.

You see God is more than just the scriptures which you know yes but anyone can read and know the scriptures yet if you do not know his love and do not know him in this way what good does knowing the scriptures do you?
