Speaking of the mysterious and hidden wisdom of God. (1 Cor 2:7) Is it something we can do now? Or was that only for a select few? If so who are they?

I hope we can do it. The "mystery" he's talking about is Christ crucified. It was a mystery to the rulers of this age, but it is wisdom to those who believe.

Do you think we can, or do you have any thoughts as to who the "few" were?

My late pastor, mentor and friend had a relationship with God that astounds me still. He would spend hours in prayer, study and fellowship with God. He got up early, 4.00 am and spent time before he went to work. He'd spend more time after work as well. God honoured that. My friend was blessed with revelation and wisdom. It helped me enormously in my Christian life.

For many years, we met every day. He would speak for two hours and it was as if he had spoken for minutes. He spoke the word as Jesus did, "Spirit and life". Tonight I listened to a worthy sermon from a worthy preacher. It was informative. And dull. His words lacked the anointing. 30 minutes was more than enough. It's hard to describe the difference, but anyone who is born again would know.

We know “Christ and him crucified“ was a message for the immature.

Paul wrote:

1And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”

He explained :

1And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3for you are still carnal.”

But he said this of the mature:

6However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory…”

That's a great friend Gideon. I lost a friend like that too and it left a vacuum no one has been able to fill. I have taken up that role and serve others as I was treated by him, when and wherever I can.

Was it also what this truth opened up to all who would embrace this great message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was brought up with this message from birth. Yet those who taught it stayed at the cross, mourning His death whenever we met together. They appeared to not go beyond Christ being crucified. Little was said about Him being glorified and embrace all that has made available to us now, namely the life of the indwelling Spirit of the risen Christ.

I now believe we all who have the indwelling Spirit of Truth within us have access to the mysterious and hidden wisdom of God. Well I know He has anyway. If He shares it with us is up to Him but I believe that this is His role, to lead us into all truth, be it hidden in or out of plain sight. I guess the prophets and teachers Paul refers to have access to them at times.

When Paul speaks about mystery and hidden wisdom he is speaking about the gospel. The mystery and wisdom is hidden from the world but is now made known to the apostles and through them made known to us.

Jesus Christ Himself is the fullest revelation of God we will have in this age. He is Truth.

We will not have any new revelation this side of heaven nor do we need it.

What we need is to understand Christ more and this is an inexhaustible source.

Yes I agree that this comes from Christ Himself and that we need is to understand Christ more. And as He said He will have His Spirit sent to us so that He can take from what is His (Christ's) and make it known to us. I personally cannot find anything in the pages of the bible you refer to as confirming your statement....
'We will not have any new revelation this side of heaven nor do we need it.' I respect you and even your assumption but cannot share it with you brother. But would like it if you could enlighten me of this. Of course with the Spirit's assistance.
