Pentecost 2022 Begins at Sunset Sat, June 4h. Ends at nightfall Mon, June 6th. (Hebrew calendar, 6th-7th Sivan 5782)

1st Pentecost:
Moses gives the Torah/Commandments at Mt Sinai & the Nation of Israel is born (Ex 19:1-22,23)

At the 1st post resurrection Pentecost:
Christ sends (Matt 3:11, Acts 2:4) His new covenant saving/eternally sealing (2 Cor 1:22, 5:5, Eph 1:13-14, 4:30, 2 Tim 1:14.) indwelling Holy Spirit & the Christian Church is born!

Names: Pentecost (Greek) Shavuot (Hebrew) Festival of Harvest (Ex 23:16), Festival of Weeks (Ex 34:22, Lev 23:15-22, Deut 16:16, 2 Chron 8:13, Num 28:26)

Acts 2:
1 (A) When the day of Pentecost was fully come
4 (A) they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
(NOTE: Right here the new covenant begins: Jesus baptized (Matt 3:11, Jn 1:33, Acts 2:4, Rom 8:9-11) believers with His saving/sealing/indwelling Holy Spirit.

When we believe/place our faith in Christ's sin atoning death (sins required wage PAID), burial (proof Christ died) & resurrection (Father God's receipt, sins required payment received & accepted. (See 1 Cor 15:1-4, Rom 10:9, Eph 1:13).

The new COVENANT realized with a SPIRITUAL SEALING. (2 Cor 1:22, 5:5, Eph 1:13-14, 4:30, 2 Tim 1:14.)

Christ baptizes (Matt 3:11, Acts 2:4, 1:5, 2:38, 4:31, Jn 3:5, 1 Pet 3:21, 1 Cor 6:19, 12:13, Rom 8:9-11) the believer with his salvation/sealing indwelling Holy Spirit.

Early Pentecost traditions:

BOOK OF RUTH
For 3500 yrs the Book of Ruth has been read every Pentecost. The story of Boaz a Kinsman Redeemer. A shadow of Christ & his Bride/Church. Boaz a wealthy landowner of the tribe of Judah, takes Ruth, a gentile, for his wife.

Ruth 3:9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: ""spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid"" for thou art a near kinsman.
(NOTE: Spread therefore thy skirt (TALITH) over thine hand maid: This verse is a marriage proposal. When a Jewish man married a woman, he threw the end of his skirt (TALITH) over her head, covering her, to signify that she was now under his covering/protection. When we say yes to Christ, he seals us with his Holy Spirit of covering/protection)

Rabbinic traditions:

DECORATING THE BRIDE:
Another shadow on Pentecost: A time spent tradition called ""decorating the bride"". (The Church is the Bride of Christ) Jews stayed up all night studying Scripture. In the hope that they will receive a special blessing. They believe that God will favorably answer prayer by briefly opening up the heavens and supply a blessing. Sounds like Thess 4:16 to me! Christ is coming soon for his Bride/Church.

FESTIVAL WITHOUT A DATE
Pentecost was also referred to as "the festival without a date." Originally this Feast didn’t have a fixed date. It was calculated by the new moon, when crops began to bloom prior to Passover & a seven week countdown. With leap months the actual calendar day/date was quite flexible. After the destruction of the Temple the 6th of Sivan became a fixed date. They simply count 50 days after (Nisan 16) firstfruits.

JUDGING THE FRUIT OF TREES:
There is a belief in Jewish tradition that trees are judged by God (The fig tree).

Paul gives a picture of the Judgment Seat (Bema) of Christ. 2 Cor 5:10. The fruit of one’s works will be judged & rewarded. No judgment for sin here, Christ was judged & paid for ALL the believers sins on the cross. (Col 1:14 & Rom 4:7).

Those that reject God's grace & remain in unbelief until life's end/death. Will find themselves at the White Throne Judgment Seat where every jot & title of the law's judgments for sin will have to be paid. Ending in eternal separation from their Creator.

OT physical harvest feasts foreshadow NT Spiritual resurrection harvests.

OT Passover Barley firstfruit/wave & crop harvest. NT Christ the resurrection firstfruit (1 Cor 15:20) & (Matt 27:52,53) where many witness those resurrected after Christ.

OT Pentecost wheat harvest. NT a spiritual resurrection coming on a future Pentecost (I pray this one, Lord come!) 1 Thes 4:16-17.

OT Tabernacles oil, wine, fruit harvest. NT everyone that believes on Christ, after the Pentecost spiritual resurrection until His 1000 yr reign ends.

Col 2:16Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.

In these days where "anything goes" in the modern church, I strongly suggest that no christian keep the feasts because it's not required at all in the NT. Jesus fulfilled them all so there's no purpose for them anymore.

Besides, isn't the church overrun with so many traditions already?

The post never suggests nor implies anyone should keep the feasts today. Under the Mosaic/Sinai covenant, during the 3 feasts mentioned in the post. Every male Jew 20 years or older was required to travel to the Temple. These is no Temple to travel to today, so, even if someone wanted to keep them, they couldn't.

Today's believer isn't under the Mosaic covenant. That doesn't mean we can't glean spiritual insight from OT practices.

The feast days and appointed times are the Lords, they are not israels only. They are for all believers.
God loves to celebrate and keep his people mindful on his abilities.
At the last supper jesus said this...remember me when you eat and drink was he referring to just the shared bread and wine or was he referring to the feast days that were their custom?
Each feast day points to Jesus. With the remembrance of Jesus it unveils the mystery of the feast days with the food and preperation that proceeds.
I get alot of grievance from christians when i point this out and say we are not under the law. That was for the jews only. ....not according to scripture.
To celebrate Gods goodness and mercy towards his people. His willingness to hear prayer, his ability to do far above what we ask. To bless the work of our hands.
In his early ministry days Jesus told the parable of a great king that set a feast table and invited his chosen to join.
Excuses after excuses were presented. Did the king say ok maybe next time? No in short he said go out to all so that all this great food dont go to waste. Thats our invite...we can sit at that table. We are invited.
There is nothing wrong with being refreshed. Being a participant in the kingdom of GOD. Remembering his works.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven....is it not GODs will to tabernacle with his people?

Pentecost is about God giving us the law. When God had Moses give the law, they were tailored to fit the people Moses was leading. They were a wild bunch whose life had been so filled with work they had no time or strength for anything else, they must be taught. All these laws Moses gave them were truth, but they were taught and rewarded through the flesh---they were of stone not spirit. They needed a physical sign on their body to show how belonging to God changed them.

The Jews who are denying that Christ is our salvation are still being guided by those fleshly laws. They prove that those laws are good for guiding our fleshly life. The Jews are a minority race, yet a higher percentage of them have the world's marks of success like education, money, or worldly honors.

Every state of being has laws that govern that state. If you decide to be a doctor, then you must learn the laws that govern how our body works. If you want to live successfully in the kingdom of the world, you must learn the laws of the world. If we belong to Christ, we learn the laws that govern living in that kingdom and let
Christ and those laws guide our life.

We have given ourselves to Christ, he lives within us and we learn the laws that govern that kingdom, our walk is guided by those laws.

The Law of Christ written on our hearts = found in the Gospels.

Christ nailed the law, given to Moses, to the cross and left it there for all eternity.

In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,
having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us.
And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.
Colossians ch2

The Law of Christ -
When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to ME.

Are you saying that God gave to Moses what was not good? That is not possible for God to do.

Scripture does not say the law was nailed to the cross, you are in error. That scripture reads: And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14).

The rituals given by Moses were like schoolmasters, leading the people to accepting the ways of the Lord and understanding them. As they cut their flesh and marked themselves as belonging to God, it was to lead them to true circumcision. Christ took these thing away when Christ put what they were telling man in or hearts.

However, Christ changed the law when it was delivered to our hearts and the law must express love to be true.

Have you considered why there was a resurrection when Christ was crucified during the Passover weekend? And those who survive the sheep/goat judgement, Zech.14: 16 Then every one that survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of booth. I believe the Lord is fulfilling the three times a year all males must show up on Passover, Pentecost, and feasts of Booths. Pentecost is coming this weekend, timing of the second resurrection of the saints!

Every day the FATHER fulfills the Day of Pentecost in CHRIST when someone is Baptized in the HOLY SPIRIT.

When the LORD Returns and sits on His Throne, here on earth, that is a whole NEW Chapter = 1,000 Year Reign on earth.

In our prayer life, God guides us to ask for his will to be done as it is in heaven. His laws as they are given in scripture and as they are given to us in our hearts are like a loving heavenly Father taking our hand and leading us to all goodness.

This weekend is dedicated to thanking and praising the Lord for his guidance.

As it says in Psalm 119:12 ‘Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees’. We are celebrating that teaching.
