My neighborhood is populated with joggers. Well; one day, as a youthful
runner passed by, I noticed how springy their gate was. As they came down
on each foot in turn, they rebounded, i.e. bounced.

Well; it hit me that it had been quite a while ago that any of my steps were
bouncy. At 78, each time I come down on one of my feet, even when
walking, I come to ground with a solid jolt, as if my legs are made of wood. I
think it might be time for me to get a pair of those fancy sports shoes that
absorb shock. In Messiah's kingdom, I'll be back to normal.

Mal 4:2 . . For you who revere My name, the sun of righteousness will rise
with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released
from the stall.

Isa 35:6 . .Then will the lame leap like a deer

You are on the right path....
(I get so delighted when I see someone finally on it)

And I can help...because I had the exact same question.

And the question you need to ask yourself is what criteria would God really use to determine if you were one of His or not?

And the answer is if you become as much as possible in behavior to become like Jesus.

Jesus's behavior and demeanor had some key characteristics and He spoke about these things at length...

Kindness, mercy/grace, forgiveness, generosity and purity.

There's no law against these things...and if you do these things in God's name you will be recognized as a Christian...giving you an identity in Christ. Notice what is absent....the finger wagging and brow beating. Those things are actually characteristics of an accuser which is synonymous with Satan.

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.

Jesus wasn't kidding about it either.
We need more love and kindness in the church. Both offline and online. Our judgements need to be slowed down. Take the plank out of our eye before we try to remove the speck from our brother's eye. We need to learn to listen to each other. Hear out our life stories, and find out why a person is the way they are. Then patiently start to help each other because almost nobody changes over night. If it is a spiritual heart issue, then it also takes God to work on the inside of us. It seems like people think this is a race, and got to have everything fixed in just 1,2,3, done! And if the person doesn't change at the rate of 1,2,3, then it's time to scold them or throw them away. Braking off fellowship should be the very very very very last thing if the person is living in sin.

If God gave up on people as quickly as people in the Church gave up on people, we'd all die and go to hell.

Thank you for that post. It's totally the spirit I was talking about. We have such a short time and so many to reach. But I'm afraid that we do more against the Gospel then spreading the Gospel. Our job is to show people who Jesus is. We are to shine a light in dark corners of the world. We are to show people there is hope in Jesus. I just wonder are we really doing what we are supposed to be doing. Blessings!!
Amen!

I strongly disagree. Magenta's graphics are one of the few things going on
around here that break up the flow of militant comments with an intermission
of calm and beauty. I much prefer her art work than many of the emoticons
defacing the forums with their in-your-face graffiti.

All you wish...God's word needs and allows no human sultry/arty environmental additives.
A deceptive new age religion approach...for sure.

as we see...more and more.

Yep.

I'm reminded of the following saying:

Everybody wants to change the world, but nobody wants to change themselves.

They are the world.

Not a valued saying....too many are changing and adopting ...new age religion.....practices. A no...no.

The fundamentals are in good stead with God.

Admit it...new age religion approach to God's word has sucked you in.
Change it....if you consider yourself to be a Christian.

You know when my father first came to church many years ago, a friend invited him and he was saved that night. But as a new Christian one day he was wearing blue jeans. And old "saint" stopped him and asked him if he knew the path to hell was paved with blue jean. smh Thankfully my father was able to ignore that, others may not. We must be careful we don't bar the way with false accusations, deeming something a cult that isn't, or telling a person they are hell bound when they aren't,

And this is what I mean. There's nothing in Magenta's art that is "new age". And you have seen us disagree here and she certainly doesn't need me to defend her. But this ties into my thread. And I'm not trying to be ignorant to you. But we are entirely too quick to label things in the church. I've heard so many people, especially here, throw around words carelessly. Words have meaning. Nothing I've ever heard from our sister would make me think she is in to new age belief. Because she isn't. And there's nothing wrong with her art, all kinds of Christians are artistic. My own sister is an artist and she sees the world differently than others do. It's a God given talent, and one she often does for free, as Magenta does here. It's uplifting, many people here have mentioned her art has helped them. To say someone isn't a Christian because they enjoy her art is just utter nonsense. It's just an opinion, which you are entitled to, but it's nothing more. Sorry, I hope we can get along on other things but it's just utterly wrong to say someone isn't saved because they enjoy art. My land there are artists that have done paintings of David looking at Bathsheba taking a bath on her rooftop. Now it's not something I want in my living room mind you, but it certainly isn't sinful.

Isa 2:4 . . Neither shall they learn war any more.

That's bad news for folks obsessed with martial arts, and bad news for their
favorite sensei and their dojos too.
It is said that martial arts generated breakdancing so, I look forward to breakdance battles.

I'm going to enjoy having the sin stripped from me.
Including any erroneous theologies.

And I tend to think that some people are going to be really surprised at the ridiculousness of some of the theologies they hold.

I was very fortunate to enjoy the early years of my boyhood outdoors in and
around the San Diego river back in the decade of the 1950s. Much of those
outdoors are all gone now, bulldozed into oblivion to make way for shopping
centers, factories, golf courses, and housing tracks. Where once I might
encounter, at most, five or six people; are now hundreds.

There's a science fiction fantasy called a holographic environment simulator
- a.k.a. Holodeck. With it, folks can re-create and visit historical events.
Well; I would really like it if God has something like a Holodeck with which I
could go back in time, so to speak, and revisit those 1950's environs as they
were when I was a boy before progress erased them forever.

* Speaking of the 1950s; Saturday matinee at the movies cost just 20¢

They ran two features, previews of coming attractions, a cartoon, a
newsreel, and usually a bit of serial adventure like Flash Gordon. We could
stay and watch everything all over again at no additional cost. That 20¢
bought a lot of entertainment.

Every single person here believes they are right according to the Word. If that is true, we should be able to sing "There's a Sweet, Sweet Spirit in This Place" and there isn't. Why?!
I hear you. Many do not think about the potential CC has to point seekers to the Kingdom. Our differences mostly concern things that are not critical to core salvational doctrine. We should be able to discuss peripheral issues in a loving manner and not get all heated. I think it is ok to have different ideas about the future times and events of the last days and such.

It might be good to make more threads about the core salvation that we agree on, and not focus so much on things that might not even be fully revealed yet. Maybe we should remember what our real purpose on this earth is and see CC as a window of opportunity.

We agree that God loves all and desires that none should perish because of their sin nature.
God sent His son to provide the opportunity for all to obtain salvation and eternal life.
All that is necessary is to invite Him into your heart and yield full control to Him.

So simple, yet so profound and beautiful. We are all together on this, yes?

Act 16:13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
Act 16:14 And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
Act 16:15 And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

I was also told I was going to hell once because I wasn't taking my daughter to church... I said oh really? Would you like to take her? The person was stopped in their tracks and said yes, I will take her and that is how I got a free babysitter on Sunday morning so I could go and do the grocery shopping without a little one begging for stuff...lol

Only God knows our true destination and we would do well to keep our mouths shut and pay attention to what we are doing and not what is going on around us when it comes to the salvation thing. We are instructed to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling and if we are busy doing that then we won't be so worried about the guy next to us. We can only plant seeds and let the Holy Spirit do his work of making it grow for the other guy.
