Just saw something interesting. A recent Gallup poll is showing that 71% of respondents now say homosexuality is morally acceptable, with only 28% saying it is not. That amounts to a 30% jump in those who favor it (up from 40% to 70%) in just two decades.

If this is the case, and if that's how quickly public opinion is changing, we should assume that Western society will be approaching almost universal acceptance within just the next 20 years. I wonder how many Christians will still stand for what the word of God actually teaches on the subject by 2040.

I cannot speak for anybody else, but I'll continue to stand against it.

I'll add this as well, and simply because it's true:

Although I've faced some opposition for my stance against homosexuality over the years, I've faced tremendously more opposition for my stance against Biblical adultery. Nowadays, professing "Christians" have duped themselves into believing that there are many different justifiable reasons for divorce and remarriage, but such simply isn't the case.

coming from someone who once stood up for homosexual practices, i have hope that other people will come to the truth and see it's error according to God's Word. i see many fellow Christians standing against it and speaking of the reality of this sin that so many people proclaim with "pride."
on the other hand, as i see the world today and how it is seemingly increasing in evil, it probably wouldn't take until 2040 for this universal acceptance to be true, but within much less time.

It's like witnessing someone walking around soaked in gasoline.
You know they're flammable. It's just a matter of time.

In the meantime, I don't hate them because they're fuel soaked. I don't treat them poorly either.

I don't agree with soaking oneself on gasoline. However I also know I can't do a thing to dry them off or take away that dangerous flashpoint they're living with.

If I'm calling myself a follower of Jesus and treat people poorly because I judge them, I'm a liar. Because Jesus treated sinners with respect.
Not so much those dastardly keepers of the law.

But to say homosexuality is sin isn't judging anyone. Jesus would have told them the same. I don't that respect is the word, homosexuality is an abomination according to the Word. I do believe Jesus would show a homosexual that they are in bondage to sin and only He could give them living water.

What does the Bible say about homosexuality?
Let’s see, here’s a verse:

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Leviticus 18:22

Ok good.
Now, What does the Bible say about weapons?
Let’s see, here’s a verse:

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
Matthew 26:52

So why do some Christians love guns and hate gays? Why do some Christians support a verse but neglect another?
What is Christianity? Something you made up as you go along or trying to live a humble non judgmental life?

One verse forbids lying with a man as though he were a woman. The other verse doesn’t say dying by the sword is a problem. The verses to oppose homosexuality are clear, but verses to oppose weapons are not clear. The Bible is filled with examples of God ordaining the use of weapons.

Not trying to argue, just giving you a different perspective that maybe helps you understand the mindset of the people you’re talking about.

Hello @Vindicator, if we believers get to the point where we refuse to lovingly make sinners (of all different kinds) aware of the truth for their sakes, then I'm sure that God will step in somehow.

Of course, this is the only group of sinners that is taking a public, pride-filled stance in the hope of seeing their particular brand of sinfulness justified as something that is "normal" by our society at large (there are, for instance, no liar, adulterer or coveter pride parades that I am currently aware of, nor is there any national effort to see those sins normalized in our schools, businesses, homes AND churches in this way) .. THANKFULLY :)

"~THE~ Truth", or more specifically, the belief that there is no objective truth, is what is/will continue to be behind this movement. Of course, this is hardly the first time that this has happened (objective truth being set aside, that is), and it has always resulted in the barbarianism that we have increasingly become aware of in the world over the last several years.

As Christians, we must not allow ourselves to justify and embrace this sin (or any other) like the world seems so bent on doing today, because if we do not continue to tell people what the truth/God's truth actually is, then no one will!!

God bless you!!

~Deut

1 Corinthians 13
6 [Love] does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.
Ephesians 4
14 We will no longer be immature like children. We will not be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever that they sound like the truth.
15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
1 Peter 3
15 Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.

Yeah, same ones who told us Hillary has a 14 point lead on Trump, and said that 10% of the country was homosexual when it was really 1%, the same ones telling us 65% favor abortions. Big fat liars.

In August of 2012, The Public Religion Research Institute compared attitudes toward guns among different groups of Christians. The survey was taken after the massacre in the Aurora, Colo., theater on July 20, 2012.

The survey showed a clear divide between Catholics and Protestant evangelicals. Some 58% of white evangelicals report living in households owning a gun, whereas only 32% of Catholics do. Similarly, 36% of persons with no religious affiliation report living in a household owning a gun.
The report also showed that “Six in 10 Catholics and religiously unaffiliated Americans (62% and 60%) favor stricter gun control laws, compared to fewer than half of white evangelical Protestants (35%) and white mainline Protestants (42%).”

Sooo … you see this doesn’t have much to do with the Bible as usual, but with certain sects.
So if you wanna hate on the gays keep on hating. I’m sure that would help you with your spiritual growth.

You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Leviticus 18:22
There are many things that are sin.
Jesus ate with sinners. And when his disciples didn't approve he corrected their judgement of his actions.

Ok good.
Now, What does the Bible say about weapons?
Let’s see, here’s a verse:

Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place. For all who take the sword will perish by the sword.
Matthew 26:52
Jesus was referring to the armed temple guard there.

We know how Jesus felt about weapons. He told his disciples to buy a sword. Even if they had to sell their cloak to do so.
In those times the sword was the most formidable of all weapons.

That's why the disciples were armed in Gethsemane in the first place.

So why do some Christians love guns and hate gays? Why do some Christians support a verse but neglect another?
What is Christianity? Something you made up as you go along or trying to live a humble non judgmental life?
It's impossible to live a non-judgemental life.

I think sometimes we cleave to living a religion and lose touch with living spiritually.

A weapon is a tool unless it is used by a person with evil intent. The Bible says nothing against defending your family or your country. The Bible says homosexuality is an abomination, it doesn't say owning a weapon is sin, or even wrong.

No one here said they hated gays, so that makes your comment the judgmental one. The Bible never said there is anything wrong owning a weapon.

Your imputing your own mind set from your manner of thinking into this. For instance I have shotguns and pistols that I used to shoot deer and other game with over the years(weapons against hunger you could say) ... You don't see them as useful tools because to you the only use you can see them useful for is to kill an human...

Where did you get this strange idea? Christians who have guns do not "love" them but keep them for protecting themselves and their families. Do you "love" your refrigerator because it serves a necessary function? Even the apostles were encouraged to purchase swords (as defensive weapons).

Also genuine Christians do not "hate" homosexuals either. They hate the sin of homosexuality (as they should hate all sins). And they wish to see perverts repent and be converted. Also we should stop using the term "gay". There is nothing gay about sexual perversions, and right now people who indulge in it are being infected with monkey pox, according to some reports. Some time ago it was HIV that was rampant.

It's almost as if most people don't give a poo what consenting adults do behind closed doors or something
