I grew up in a large city. I have never seen so many sound bible teaching, Spirit Filled churches in my life. It is like they can't plant them fast enough. It used to be taboo to plant one too close to an existing one, but those days are over. The harvest is ripe. There are people who will go to one across the street that never would have gone to an existing one and so we are learning that we should just plant them as fast as we can. It is a great time to live.

fire and brimstone preaching for my life was the 70's and into the mid 80's. then came along grace and my generation went complete hellions. So glad i found my way back to God!

Have you ever noticed how some children are corrected by a stern look from their father and other children can take a beating and still walk away stiff-necked?

In the United States, there've been several "great awakening" periods in the Church. I'd say a new one was in order. These influence and improve the spiritual, and the worldly realm is blessed and improved, from politics to culture.

Folks, if you are not, start praying for America's next great awakening of the Church. And, ask God to show you if there is anything you can be used to do that you are not currently doing, that can be part of this change. (Yes, I'm praying this for myself almost every day, and have been praying for my nation consistently since 2013. Occasionally, I'll pray for other western nations that've lost their way as well.)

This has nothing to do with where the report originated. Barna has conducted surveys about Christianity in the USA many times. Here is something that corresponds to the OP:

"Overall, the current research revealed that only 9% of all American adults have a biblical worldview. Among the sixty subgroups of respondents that the survey explored was one defined by those who said they have made a personal to commitment to Jesus Christ that is important in their life today and that they are certain that they will go to Heaven after they die only because they confessed their sins and accepted Christ as their savior. Labeled “born again Christians,” the study discovered that they were twice as likely as the average adult to possess a biblical worldview. However, that meant that even among born again Christians, less than one out of every five (19%) had such an outlook on life."

When that happens, I ask the seekers if they want to go somewhere to have Coffee. If that is not Possible I ask everyone to sit in a circle and have a one on one discussion. I also, ask the Holy Spirit to give me knowledge of each person and what to say.

One time, I had a Baptist, LDS(mormon), JWs and Mind Science(Religious Science and Christian Science), Catholic, Unity discussion like that on My Pinic Table. I keep the topic on who Jesus is and what he did. I would not allow sidetracking.

Polls are just a tool that is useful.

Great News, We have five new believers this morning service. They all were connected to Baptist Churches based on their personality.

It is truly sad though........ I can not think God will tarry much longer. I am seriously worried that my generation, and those over 40 now may well be the last to recognize God and seek Christianity and become a part of the Faith.

Maybe there is a younger generation that is still worshiping God, but I do not see much evidence of it in the world around me.....

Since Christians are not the majority in this country, and since many entire denominations no longer believe the bible, and since heretical non-biblical churches are on the rise, and since many individual Christians in traditional churches don't really believe the bible.... I'll have to remain skeptical that a full 20% of the population believes the Bible in some kind of historical-literal way.

However, I also HOPE I'M VERY VERY WRONG!!!!!!
