As much as I wanted to be proficient with musical instruments, it's hard to practice everyday, I struggle with the piano, so I started to play a little bit of ukulele, mostly basic chords for my own enjoyment, I hate it when I stop for awhile my fingers would hurt whenever I play again.
Anyone here plays the uke? 😊

Yes, I play guitar and 5 string banjo. This is our daughter singing and son on mandolin (he can play anything with strings). My lovely wife was sitting this one out.

So much talent here. Haven't been on this thread for awhile. I have some catching up to do! :)
I play acoustic and electric guitar. I used to lead a worship team back in the '90s. Then I got ill and didn't play much for many years.
A couple years ago, the Lord did something in my heart and I started playing, singing, and writing again!
I've recently started a new medication that seems to have given me my life back. I've started attending a church again and with time, perhaps I can help out with music. I'm in a new season of my life.

I started playing guitar when I was in college. I prefer acoustic guitars because I think their melody is much more attractive. I decided to learn to play the guitar because I wanted to impress a girl from my department. I bought a guitar and also some picks here https://ironageaccessories.com/collections/guitar-picks. I learned by watching the lessons on youtube, and in a few weeks, I learned all the chords of the song I sang for that girl. All my efforts were in vain; now, that girl is my wife.

I don't play as much as I used to, but when I was playing almost all the time, I had such calluses on the fingers of my left hand, I would actually cut some of them down. And I am talking about nylon strings on a classical guitar. I do have a steel string and an electric also, but would use picks on those.

But yeah, if I were to go and play for an hr or 2 now, my fingers would complain. :giggle:

Same here. I was doing gigs and going to jam sessions almost every weekend for a few years. Now my calluses are pretty much gone. I had just started going back to jam sessions when the Corona virus came along.

I literally had no feeling on the end of my fingers. Jam sessions are fun. Covid not so much :cautious:

I know what you mean, That happens to me one time, sometimes the calluses helps to practice longer ☺️ can't even feel the pain anymore so I just endure for hours. My cuzin laughingly told me, One time she asked my brother, what am I doing, My bro told her, "she's doing nothing just playing her ukulele!" this was during covid lockdown.😄

Right. Might be painful to build up the calluses again, but works for lots of practice in the long run :) Enjoying playing an instrument is never 'nothing' Right? :giggle:
