Did you really mean to say "one word per post" - or, do you really not want to see a particular word mentioned in more than one post?

:D

;)

I am just teasing you, honey - I know what you meant...

One post per word..Gary, I will just make allowance for your apparent dyslexia

Well my word today is a long one

lamentations

to lament means to weep.
Or a great passionate expression of grief
A song or a poem expressing grief or regret

It is the name of one of the books in the Bible. If you read it you may cry. Its sad so have tissues handy.

Okay - maybe you really did mean that any particular word should never be mentioned in more than one post in the entire thread.

There is no dyslexia - both "one post per word" and "one word per post" are legitimate ideas.

Do I need to explain both of them, or do you get it yet?

salvation

often found in the Bible, Jesus name also means 'salvation' but what does this word actually mean?
the dictionary says (in christian belief) it means the state of being saved from sin believed to be brought about from faith in Christ
But the ordinary meaning is 'a means of protecting someone from harm or loss'

sometimes its helpful to look at other related root words in your dictionary like salvage - 1. rescue a ship or its cargo from loss at sea. 2. save something from being lost or destroyed

or nearby salve - an ointment used to soothe or heal the skin

winebibber

Ive only ever seen this word used in the Bible, where Jesus sat down with 'winebibbers and prostitutes' though I think its quite a descriptive word to mean a drunken person, someone who drinks too much wine

I picture them drooling wine on to their bibs.
In spoken english we dont really have descriptive words like this, we have boring words like 'alcoholic' 'intoxicated' or 'under the influence' to mean someone who is drunk...or 'wasted' 'out of it' and 'wino' for a wine lover.

I thought a Samaritan, in the Bible, "was a person from Samaria, a region north of Jerusalem. In Jesus’ day, the Jewish people of Galilee and Judea shunned the Samaritans, viewing them as a mixed race who practiced an impure, half-pagan religion." From https://www.gotquestions.org

The paradox of the parable of the Good Samaritan was that all the Chosen People - the Israelites - who were most closely related by blood and covenant to the man injured by bandits passed him by, while the Samaritan - a non-Israelite or at least one of impure lineage - was the one who treated the injured man as a neighbour or relative.
