Thank you for your reply. I have tried to enjoy it but its hard to do that when I dont understand parts of it. There are times when I am like Eureka! I get it and other times I am very much the opposite and give up and dont touch my Bible for months.

Thank you for your reply. There is so much to read and take in. From others suggestions yesterday, I am starting with Proverbs then Psalms then will circle back to the Gospels. Ive got my yellow highlighter out and already using it as there are verses that immediately jump out at me :)
I would reverse that order......Psalms trumps Proverbs. No comparison really.

Psalms has got to be one of this most staggering books in all of the Bible. King David's struggles....and victory..... in his walk with The Almighty resonates with every Christian there ever was or will be.

Thank you for sharing that. It resonates with me. I stopped going to church because Id meet people that would talk about the Bible and I had no idea. And I was worried I wouldnt read the whole Bible in time. I worried about talking to people about Christ when I couldnt even quote a verse. I said a prayer this morning, it really was like no other prayer Ive said. The words just flowed and I was amazed at Him. I started Proverbs today and Im getting into it, highlighting verses here and there. I dont know why I was in such a hurry or why I was scared of opening it up. The Bible as a whole is overwhelming for me. Ive gotten lots of awesome advice to take it slow so Im trying to not make the same mistake in the past and rush it, like you and others said so importantly - the relationship with Him comes first, and this is primarily established by prayer.
You'll come to understand that the Bible is hid in the heart. Not necessarily the mind. It is a living Word meant to transform you into the image of Christ.

The Pharisees had the Bible memorized verbatim. But it was (for many) external not internal.

Psalms are also loaded with prophecy.....;)

Maybe it's just not your time to be reading right now. Maybe you're supposed to be elsewhere doing something?
Dunno. Maybe cleaning your house? Jus' sayin...
But really, it' s possible that you have something else God wants for you to be active in. And in that activity, you may see something, and maybe it will be a call to read more.

As I write, it comes to mind that you may be using the Bible as a religion, instead of seeking God's will through Jesus every moment. You're substituting Reading The Bible (and this is all maybe, I maybe totally wrong) for being under God's tutelage directly? Or you're substituting reading the Bible for being forgiven of sins through Christ?
Like God gonna love you more if you read, every day?

On reading the bible on a daily. Its a real struggle and Im trying to declutter the house and the mind to have clear space for Him.
Try beginning with the gospel according to John , it has a way of making the word our daily bread just a few quotes to show the importance of his word bieng active and present In our minds and daily lives

if this is in my thinking with the understandkng my lord and savior said this “

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:27-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

if that is present In My thinking it works as a compass and guide to help me keep away from sins of lust that my flesh wants but the spirit is offended by

His word is life to a believer like food
the idea is as Gods word begins to be accepted and believed it’s found to change how you think about life , your role , the afterlife , God , salvation , good and evil ect so there is a living aspect a power Gods word has to change the flaws in our mind and heart to heal our scars d twisted aspects of our mind and heart his word hearing what God said d believing it to be the truth is paramount

if it’s a struggle it’s the devil trying to keep you away fro. The spirit and life that quickens us he’s trying to keep you away from faith growing up and getting strong here’s some verses to highlight why we should hear Gods word often and consider it to be true always

we want faith

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we want eternal life and no condemnation when we are judged by the lord

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:22, 24‬ ‭

We want to grow in spirit and life in Christ

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭

we want to know and experience what freedom he’s able to give us as his followers ( disciples )

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

we want to live and not die

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:51‬ ‭

We just want to forst do what your trying to do now we have to hear the gospel and take it as of it’s what God has said to Mankind for salvation from death

We can’t believe things we don’t know and can’t know things we don’t hear we have to hear Gods word in order to believe Gods word and have faith in Him

you do t have to sit and read your Bible constantly , try reading for ten minutes in the am and maybe a few before sleep but actually spend more time thinking bout what Jesus is saying , than you do reading what he said of that makes sense

if we just learn a little bit and think about it a lot , considering “ what’s he actually saying here ?” knowing it’s true we can learn a lot me also ot gets rooted better that way in our mind and then when we move one to mother scriptire it’s sort of implanted as part of how we think about things now .

Ot of folks read the Bible a lot , but they spend little time considering what it is they read and how it applies tonthier modern daily life and attitudes and actions

I think if you just try a few minutes a day but sort of focus on Jesus and the gospel and also maybe most importantly pray tonthe lord to help youninderrrsnd and ask him to inspire you more to learn from him prayer plus study is rocket ship of learning and eventual growth even if it comes with growing pains at times

Thank you for your reply. I really needed to read that, I am halfway through Proverbs atm but will get to John in time :) Very insightful about reading the Bible a lot but spend little time considering and applying it to our lives. I was really surprised that I was doing a few minutes a day and still was happy to read more but Im now aware theres a bit more than just reading :)

It could take years or decades to really grasp the truths of the Bible. Do yourself a favor dig deep and build your house on the Rock.

Keep at it. Doggedly. Determinedly. Resolutely. Once you hit Bedrock you will know it.

The immature get caught up in the cults/sin all of the time. However the mature can spot false doctrine and bogus preachers a mile away.

And don't be afraid to study prophecy in depth. Then you will know why Israel is now in the land.....and that God fulfills His word to perfection, and can be trusted infallibly.
Thank you for your encouragement. I think I do have an element of immaturity in me which is why its taken so long for me to reach out.

I try to set goals as I read. I start with 5 chapters a day until the end of the book, at which time I read what is left and go to the next book the next day. Exceptions are Psalms, which chapters are short, so I read until I feel I have spent the same time reading, and books that contain less than 5 chapters, which I will either just read the book and stop, or continue to the next book. If the day is hectic and I fail to read, I don't beat myself up, as I am constantly doing Bible research. Hope it helps.
You see until I came across CC I had no idea people read the Bible like that. I thought everyone was reading in books not just chapters. Keeping it consistent is a challenge for me as I get distracted by worldly things but knowing that others are focused on 1 or a few chapters is more realistic for me.

Glad to hear that! I hope that it's a blessing to them too. If they have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Do you know 100% for certain that you have a home in heaven now?
I really believe I have a home in heaven and I can get quite emotional thinking about it :)

Hi,

Have u tried biblehub.com? For example... https://biblehub.com/revelation/12-1.htm

They have decent commentaries toward the bottom of the webpage that describes the passage in language most can understand.

rev_GOH
Biblehub is incredible! I think it was different for my friend because he had all these different tabs open whereas Biblehub has everything on the same page :)

Thank you for your reply. No I think I should be reading the Bible. I say this because I havent read it in a while and Im not getting anything out of not reading it. The house always needs to be cleaned lol But if you mean metaphorically then yes of course, I am a sinner.
I did have something I was thinking of lately to do with my church and volunteering but I will wait for God to tell me that is the direction I should move in.
