Paul's writings, of course we're true, but they took what they had of their entrusted old testament to see if what the great Apostle taught lined up with the Truth.

I agree that the original autographs disintegrated long ago. However, I trust that God kept His Word miraculously in our language. It was meticulously translated by language geniuses who read and spoke Greek and other languages fluently. Unlike many of the scholars of today that would struggle to get around if dropped off in a strictly Greek speaking city. I take it by faith that God wants us to know Him as well as how to get to heaven, that He made sure that all had opportunity to receive that.
I don't mean to get off topic from the OP/ original posters thread, but this is real important.

When you have time over the weekend or whenever, you might be interested in a very well done documentary on the history of the Bible. There's a good interview with a historian who has the Bible museum of Phoenix Az. The rest is good too, but I watched the scene I mentioned many times.

I've been engaged in discussions with Christians who are all for those passages he outlines. Submit to the authorities because God put them in power over us.
And those other Christians, when asked if that applies to Pol Pot, Hitler, Pilate, the Sanhedrin that wanted Jesus dead, Stalin, Putin, etc... They say, yes!
Because they serve God's will.
Even Pharaoh in Moses time.😳

Obey those put in authority over you for they are put there by God.
That would apply to the Antichrist too.

You know how sometimes there are things right in front of your face, how can you miss it? Those Christians I mentioned never thought of that part.
There's something else right in front of us, but we miss it.

In my Bible it doesn't say "repent of your sins" there either. Any preacher that tells you that that verse is the Corinthians salvation verse should repent (reconsider/change his mind) and believe the gospel instead.

Then he should certainly abstain from fornication and such sins that prevents a walk with God and brings chastisement to His children. There are many commands to God's children. They don't apply to the lost as behavioral requirements for acceptance with God. That took someone much better than us.

I think that the Bereans believed Paul their preacher and his apostleship. They just took time to search the Scriptures they had to verify his messages. Believers should do that with the other preachers/ teachers as well. Many churches were messed up one way or another.

You should like you are communicating with those who use non KJV versions to try to understand Romans 13. That can be confusing. I have to admit that chapter 13 takes digging and hard work, but it gets clear and makes sense when Paul's intent is understood. It's too late to get into that right now. That's a long study. Certainly I roll my eyes as Paul would, at the thought of Baby Moses's Mom throwing him in the river without an ark.
I don't for a second think God, Paul or anyone who understands the true meaning of Scripture to think it obedience to God for children to murder Cambodian parents under Pot socialists.

That's a misunderstanding of Scripture like those who read Jesus'command to turn the other cheek meaning that if someone were to attack your daughter, to offer up the other child too. I don't believe that Jesus meant it that way at all. Nor would Paul approve of Nero's burning of Rome and blaming it on christians. Paul didn't end up in prisons for going along with the evils of society. He, Barnabas, Peter, Steven, had higher callings than anyone and were threatened by the "authorities"imprisoned, beaten, etc..

Whatever Bible we use, it's good to be able to rely on the fact that we don't need liberal textual Critics to tell us what it "REALLY MEANS in the 'original autographs.'"
I am friends with those who use other versions, most of which are paraphrases of the Bible. It's their choice, not mine. I hope they are served well and trust that they also walk with the Lord.
However, there are a few reasons that I think are important to me using the one that I chose. To each their own, but nobody's given me any reason to doubt it.

I'm glad that you are a woman of faith! That point about Moses and Pharaoh cracked me up...in a good way. It didn't work out so well for Pharaoh did it? Moses disobeyed and spoke with the Authority that was much higher than an Egyptian false god... Pharaoh.

I don't think it really kicks in that someone's published version would mean they took it upon themselves to corrupt God's words to the degree some versions do.
Like the NIV? It's said there are entire passages deleted.

Goodness, we wouldn't want to do that. The same book that calls them condemned to die in their sins worshiping a false God can't be allowed to offend them with such a reference to the Isa of their Koran. Because their Allah has no son. So our Bible can't imply our God does.

Yes, other versions do inform actual Christians and to each their own.

It's the matter of the make believers that can enter a community and use any version as a diving board for mocking our faith that will always be an issue anywhere they go. Their intention is dark and their purpose is to cause conflict.

John warned against adding to or taking away from his book of God's Revelations.
I can't imagine God would be OK with that occuring in the rest of his inspired word.
