Someone told me, in so many words, to do a topic that is deep, so here's one.

The title doesn't really reveal much.

Every person is a tri-partite being and has a spirit, a soul, and a body. Luckily, God designed these three parts with the ability to compensate or stick up for each other wherever there is loss or lack. This happens automatically (so that people can function even when they're not getting their needs met) and is similar to the way your eyelids blink automatically in order to compensate for any lack of moisture on your eyeballs.

I noticed that these three parts will also compensate for a lagging part. Eg. if your spirit is not 'eating' or healthy, your soul or/and body will need to eat to compensate.

In John 4, you see a classic example of how these three parts of a person work together and also cover for or compensate for each other where there is loss or lack. Jesus met a Samaritan woman at a well and addressed the thirst/hunger (need to 'eat') of her spirit, soul, and body. She needed water from the well ('food' for her body), and she had a history of marrying and sleeping around with men (food for her soul), but Jesus said He had water that would start in her spirit (food for her spirit) and "well up" to satiate the thirst/hunger of her soul and body as well.

In my and others' lives, I can usually see when or how these three parts work to fill up what's lacking for me and others. An example is going to church and not getting anything out of it (food for your spirit), so you suddenly have a strong need to do something to entertain yourself (food for your soul). Or you're sad because the girls-- or boys if you're a girl-- never notice you (romantic love is food for your soul), so you maybe start eating or working out more (food for your body). That's how compensating works among your spirit, soul, and body. Has anyone else noticed how this works in their lives or in others' lives?

Proverbs 23:2
“And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite.”

Just sayin'
