The Holy Spirit is practically unknown to the Christian Church of today because for many He is just the power of God, for others, He is only found in the pages of the Bible, and for most, He stopped doing what He did in the first century.

Without trying to prove anything that the Bible teaches about the Holy Spirit, how real is He in your life?

I will relate who He is in my life if you really want to know.

He shows me things eg when I was going to visit the city a five hour drive away (I lived in the country at the time and was going up for a two week break) I wanted to bring my nutribullet with me (blender). I could not find it anywhere. I looked absolutely everywhere with no luck. I asked God and the Holy Spirit flashed a picture of where it was to me in my mind. I looked in that spot and sure enough it was there. I was shocked. Since then I ask him everything, probably too much lol and he answers. Usually not straight away although it is great when he does.

the truth is without the information written in Gods word , no one could know the holy ghost or have any part with him.

Who the holy spirit is in our lives is exactly who Jesus said he is in our lives

more Christian’s should be saying “ let’s find out what Gods own words have said out the Holy Spirit , then I can know him “

the reason we need to stay with the scriptures is because there are many roots in the world Seeking to fill us up d many of those spirits claim to be Christs and aren’t

there are a lot of spirits I look like a lamb and claim the name of a lamb but the things they speak and teach are the words of a dragon

we have the truth , and he is the spirit of truth the Holy Spirit Will always agree with and remind us of scripture , they are his words the Holy Spirit walked among us and made himself Known

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

…And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6-7, 16-17, 26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The holy spirit is who preached the gospel the one written down I mean, to try to know him apart from the word doesn’t lead to the same place as hearing the truth and believing

Amen.

The Spirit will never contradict the scriptures. God cannot lie nor is He double-minded.

There are three ways the Spirit speaks to us as recorded in scripture: Through the written word, Directly to our spirits, from those sent by the Spirit to us. All three will be in agreement.

God the Father gave all authority to God the Son. The Son could only do what He saw the Father doing. The Son sent the Spirit to us. The Spirit only speaks what He hears from the Son. The Spirit tells us what is yet to come.

Also, there is no need for extra-biblical books to complete what is written in scripture.

I'd like to hear who He is to you; but I'll also share my own thoughts.

Walking in the Holy Spirit has been one of the biggest challenges for me in my walk. I think that's because it's so hard to find examples to follow these days. There are the people of God in the Bible and that helps, but living breathing examples of people walking in the Holy Spirit are hard to come by these days.

Like a lot of people I grew up with the mindset of New Testament law. By that I mean, instead of the Old Testament law we now have the New Testament that replaces the old law with a new one. But the Spirit is antithetical to the letter. Yes we use the New Testament as our guide, but only as directed by the Holy Spirit. Only then can God truly work in us and through us. It's been a long process for me, mainly because for so long I was unwilling to give up living by the letter.

For me it's not about signs, wonders and so-called manifestations of the Spirit. It's about overcoming the flesh and bearing fruit of the Holy Spirit. I'm not there yet, but I press on, hopefully to maturity. I've found that I have to make an active effort every day to listen for the Holy Spirit's voice and guidance; He won't force Himself on someone who isn't interested in listening.

Amen to that, but don't stop there. Ask Him to help you in your daily tasks, to teach you how to do things better, how to deal with difficult people, how to lead in the truth and in the walk of righteousness, and most all, to reveal the love of God to you personally.

Well said, brother. For me, the Lord visited me by pouring out His Spirit, and by baptizing me in His love. What an experience! It lasted about 30' as I felt something like a warm liquid fire washing me on the inside that revealed how much God loved me. Biblically speaking, this is called the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

After that, I have heard the Lord's voice inside of me many, many times, but not on a regular basis. His voice is tender, even when He corrects me. One time I quenched the Spirit because I didn't realize He was actually teaching the meaning of a passage as I read His word. He was displeased because I moved away from reading His word and understanding and ignored Him by switching to reading the news. I felt a weight of rebuke deep inside of me that instantly I began to repent and ask Him to forgive me. After about 10', the weight of "anger" lifted from me.
It was awful but well deserved.

The wicked will experience this anger after they die in a far greater way that will not be lifted. But most of all, I experience His love and kindness all the time. I have to add that my passion for the Lord Jesus has not abated even though I was saved 38 years ago.

My question was, "who is the Holy Spirit in your life"? Can you answer that in simple terms?

God wasn’t joking when, through inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it was said that without faith it is impossible to please Him. He’s going to need people to go ahead and believe in things they don’t understand, things they can’t see, and things they can’t really explain.

Most Christians seem to just stop at faith in Christ and surf the waves of grace. However, how many are earnestly are seeking the spiritual gifts? If you don’t really want them then you probably won’t get them. That’s our modern church today; a mere shadow of its former self.

The Holy Spirit is why I have the Gifts I do. Discernment has been a serious key to surviving every day and situation of my life. the Holy Spirit gives me the Utterance to Speak Mysteries to God [1 Corinthians 14:2]. The Holy Spirit gives me understanding of God's Holy Word. the Holy Spirit is the backing to when I pray in the Name of Jesus for healing or spiritual warfare. the Holy Spirit is the on site Power and Protection when i happen to be in the presence of evil itself. the Holy Spirit is God living inside of me. the Holy Spirit instructs my thoughts when i am submitted to God to God's Will. the Holy Spirit is my lifeline connecting me to God, the Promises of God's Word, and leads me to do the Will of God. the Holy Spirit alerts me when i sin to Repent. without the Holy Spirit, i am blinded, deaf, and dumb!

Psalm 23 answers the question "who is the Holy Spirit in your life"? for me :)

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside
quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy will
follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

What about you? How has the Holy Spirit been working in your life? Remember John 17:3.

The Holy Spirit didn't stop working if the sign gifts ceased then. He put away the foundational tools to establish the early churches and the apostles. From then He still heals, still empowers still rebukes, still quickens, is personal, can be grieved, is God.

There is no stopping of the Holy Spirits power. The gifts of the Spirit were part or the Holy Spirits work.. not the whole shebang.

Apply the Bible to your life and the Holy Spirit will guide you.
