Why would an apocryphal gospel be of any interest to Christians? The Gnostics came up with all kinds of fanciful gospels, and they are full of nonsense. Focus on the two epistles of Peter in the NT.

Here's an example of nonsense: "And the Lord screamed out, saying: 'My power, O power, you have forsaken me.'"

I think the OP encountered someone making dumb claims about the psudegraphic book as being scripture.

the Gospel of Peter is the Gospel of Mark.
Mark was the Disciples [some claim relative] of Peter.
a couple Church Fathers claim Peter did not write and Speak Greek very well but spoke his native language and Mark wrote Peter's words in Greek.

Fragments of the gospel of Peter have been found It was sometimes called the gospel according to the Hebrews. It was used as scripture by the Christian Hebrews until the fourth century when the cannon was given to us.
