Friday 8-20-22 7th. Day Of The Weekly Cycle, Av 21 5782 61st. Summer Day

John 1:1-13

The Deity Of Christ

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.

The preincarnate Work Of Christ

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The Forerunner Of Christ

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

The Rejection Of Christ

9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

The Acceptance Of Christ

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Loved this one thanks again for sharing !!

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I find it interesting he’s doing it again

“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth:

and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭65:9, 17‬ ‭

“Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42:5-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“ I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them. They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.

Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together. Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭48:6-7, 12-13, 16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

it’s interesting he’s making all things new

The Greek noun translated "Word" in John 1:1-3 and John 1:14 basically
refers to spoken words in contrast to unspoken words, i.e. speech. For
example Gen 1:3 where it says:

"And God said; "Let there be light" and there was light."

No doubt God planned the cosmos' illumination in His head before saying
anything about it, but natural light didn't come into existence until He
vocalized His thoughts.

Now, according to John 1:1-3, God's voice is a sentient being. Exactly how
any voice, even God's, can be sentient, I Haven't a clue, but surely we
cannot allow God's voice to be any less divine than Himself.

There are folk who insist the Word is a celestial being named Michael, but
that opinion implies that whenever God speaks, an angel comes flying out of
His mouth.

NOTE: Christians don't have a prior claim on the Word. Way before them,
ancient Jewish targums taught pretty much the same as what they believe;
for example:

T. Deuteronomy 4:7…For what people so great, to whom the Lord is so high
in the Name of the Word of the Lord? But the custom of (other) nations is to
carry their gods upon their shoulders, that they may seem to be nigh them;
but they cannot hear with their ears, (be they nigh or) be they afar off; but
the Word of the Lord sits upon His throne high and lifted up, and hears our
prayer what time we pray before Him and make our petitions. (Targum Jonathan)

T. Genesis 28:20-21…And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, "If the Word of the
Lord will be my support, and will keep me in the way that I go, and will give
me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, so that I come again to my father's
house in peace; then shall the Word of the Lord be my God. (Targum Onkelos)

You are a Dispensationalist are you not? I don't know what religion you belong to but in Christianity, John 1:1-3&14's "Word" references Christ, which is part of the Trinity of God. Not merely a verbalized message contrasted against the unverbalized.

I believe your reference to Michael is aluding to some SDA variants that purport "Michael" to be one of the names of Christ in the OT.

That SDA perspective dives into some angelology that not every Christian shares. Despite that, the SDA perspective appears to be elevating the instance of "Michael" to mean it was God speaking, rather than lowering God to simply being an angel of some rank.

Deut 4:7 / Gen 28:20-21
