...What Then Is our Commission?"

Some dislike these Bible studies, which (to them) are heresies, hyper-grace,
and SUPER hyper-dispensationalism. We will let each diligent Bible student,
with The Spirit Of God Dwelling in them, review the info prayerfully and care-
fully, and then decide for themselves [in view of "good and bad works For
Judgment" (1Co 3:8-15)] with what they agree or not, ok?:

"...We trust that it has now been made abundantly clear that the commission
of our LORD to the eleven apostles, the so-called “great commission,” is not
the commission of the Church, the Body of Christ; it is not to be carried out
today. What then is our God-Given commission?...

...This could hardly be stated more clearly than it is in II Corinthians 5...

...“And all things are of God, Who Hath Reconciled us to Himself
By Jesus Christ, and Hath Given to us the ministry of Reconciliation;
To wit, that God Was In Christ, Reconciling the world Unto
Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and Hath
Committed Unto us The Word Of Reconciliation.
“Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God Did
Beseech you by us, we pray you in Christ’s Stead be ye Reconciled
to God. For He Hath Made Him To Be sin for us, [Him] Who Knew no
sin; that we might Be Made The Righteousness of God In Him.”...
"

Correct? How then, do we "carry out" what was Committed TO the eleven, when This
Reconciliation Commission "Was Kept Secret By God, Until Revealed" TO Paul, FOR us?

Okay....I tink I need some context here. The Great commission not for us?

I understand signs and wonders being for the disciples and apostles time, being foundational and not needed for now.. but the commission definitely continues today.

I tink I'll check the article and get back to you

Not so. God doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb, 13.8). Some people speak out of unbelief and out of personal experience, and they use their feeble excuses which amounts to sinful unbelief just to in the clear.

There is nothing in the scriptures that state that signs and wonders were done by the apostles and disciple only. Is God indifferent to our pain? He doesn’t care anymore.

this totally false and insulting to the God loves us enough to heal us. Does it take place all rhe time? Yes, but not in yhe way you think.

By your belief, I suppose those who suffer and die from diseases is because God does not love them.

For any cessationist, they still hold to God doing miracles and healing by His will. That hasn't changed.

They are very rare, but God still does.

The sign gifts though are a different matter. They were foundational.. associated with an immature Christianity that didn't have what we now do.

The other thing is Jesus being the same yesterday, today and forever, isn't about the gifts, but the surety of His promises and second coming.

The Great Commission to tell all nations about Jesus Christ and the ministry of reconciliation are two different aspects of the same job description. They are not contradictory, but complementary.

Sorry, I don't buy the interpretation that Matt. 28:18-20 does not apply to the church today.

We have clearly been given a commission, and it is a great commission indeed. Must we always hair-split over mere semantics?

John 4:35 Context

32But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. 33Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. 35Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

I agree that some of the things Jesus did were done to demonstrate, once and for all, His deity. Certainly not all miracles have ceased. They happen every day.

Do you obey this? Do you teach all that Christ taught? He taught to go see a priest and offer a sacrifice for healing. He taught against self-defense. If thy right hand offend thee, cut it off. I could go on and on...

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Hi John146,

You make one huge mistake in your analysis. Jesus did not command anyone to go and teach to show yourself to the priest (Matt 8:4)

It shows you have no idea what Jesus is doing, nor do you understand his teaching.

The leper Jesus healed would have been an outcast. This poor man would have been excluded from society and even his family life because of his illness. Can you imagine what that would be like.

In healing this man Jesus was not only showing his power and authority over illness and bringing healing(Matt 11:5; Isa 35:5-6), He was showing compassion to the outcast of society. Jesus telling the healed Leper to show himself to the priest would have allowed him to join back in and function within society and be with his family (if he had any).

So what is the lesson?

Its twofold. The first is that Jesus is indeed the Christ (Messiah), and secondly he has compassion, he makes clean the unclean ( thats a very short to the point answer).

Therefore we as his disciples are to have compassion, especially to the outcasts of society and bring the teachings and doings of Jesus to them, the word that makes them clean.

Touching sentiments...but what does it actually say? Do we or do we not teach this?

4 And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Your showing that you have no understanding of Jesus' doings or teachings. You've have been blinkered by unsound teaching.

Jesus commanded the man to show himself to the priest to show he is now clean and can again partake in society.

We today are not part of that society, so have no need to. For Jesus makes the Unclean clean.

And lastly, and this concerns your original post. Jesus does not command his disciples to tell people to show themselves to the priests. Jesus was showing his concern and compassion for the man.

But Jesus does command his disciples to tell the world of what he has done and taught. In fact Paul did just that, along with the others. And now us.

It started in Jerusalem, then spread to samaria. To the end of the world.. Read acts... Just as Jesus commanded. Jesus was reconciling to himself. Doesn't the parable of the prodigal son teach us about reconciliation?

If you follow the false teaching of the likes of grace ambassador you will never know Jesus, who he is and what he taught. The Apostle Paul knew Jesus and what he taught.

Was it not under the law that this man had to show himself to the priest?

The Apostle Paul was given an abundant revelations that had never been taught before. These revelations were given to him by Jesus Christ. Over and over scripture tells the body of Christ to follow Paul.

1 Corinthians 4:16-17 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. 17 For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.

2 Timothy 2: 7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
