You need a license to drive a car. This is physical proof that somewhere someone thought you were able to operate one safely. You need a gun license (in some areas) for the same reason.

You need a ham radio license so the radio community can rest fairly easy that the airwaves will not be cluttered up with every kind of idiot who managed to fumble some equipment into operational order. If you do try to broadcast without a license they WILL track you down and make sure you get fined. Some ham-heads have way too much time and wicked skills.

So what activities do not require a license, but you wish they did?

Why do you wish a license was required?

If the activity of your choice did require a license and someone tried to go without one, what would the punishment be? A fine? Some enforcement of a ban from that activity? (For how long? How would it be enforced?)

What would be required to pass the license test?

How would you catch people who were trying to go without a license?

Personally, I'd like to see people require a license to speak.

It would/should only be granted if they habitually tell the truth.

It'll never happen, but it should be the norm even without a license.

The fine for lying?

Well, we all know where "all liars" are headed, don't we?

Honestly that’s a bit scary. Truth-regulators from the government or some other governing body? The people you want regulating the truth probably wouldn’t be the ones who did it; it’d be people with the most power, money, and the so-called truth would probably be a bunch of lies anyway.

Let’s say it was the church who held this position of truth authority. How would you ensure the “true church” with the correct Bible interpretation got into power? Which denomination would it be? Or which individual knows three truth and is right about everything; is it you?

It's Jesus.

He is the truth.

Anyhow, sorry for the confusion, but I was actually speaking more along the lines of people just being honest.

Personally, I can't stand dishonest people.

I would actually do away with most licenses and fines. Who is in favor of having their rights sold back to them? I’m all for tests where it’s applicable to ensure public safety, i.e., driving and owning a firearm and maybe a one-time fee to be trained, but not a license that must be continually renewed.

How about marriage licenses. Why do they cost money? Seems like marriage is a matter of religious freedom, but if you want the state to recognize it then you must pay a fee.

You’ll get it in the millennial kingdom.

My aunt says she wishes landscaping required a license. Lots of people start in on their yards with no clue. Erosion, chemical runoff, plants that don't get along well with each other...

It would be nice if a license was required before making more babies. I know a lot of parents who have NO ability to care about what they are doing to their kids.

I mean... Not knowing what you are doing is one thing. Everybody is a newbie at the start. But some people just don't care.

It could be enforced by um... "disabling" genitals when people are still kids, and only switching them back on if you can pass a test.

Don't even ask what the penalty for making babies without a license is.

On one hand, many generations of my ancestors have figured this out. On the other hand, that is the mother of all sampling biases.

License to drink coffee lol 🤭😅
Hmm... Reminds me of what someone said about the pride some caffeine drinkers have with their espresso shots.

"Espresso drinkers wear their shot count like a badge of honor. You can't just order a triple-shot until you have proven you can go to sleep after drinking a double-shot."

I think a license should be required to use a smartphone while walking. All smartphones should automatically go black and not accept any input if they sense a walking movement.

If you want to use your phone while walking, report to the DAP (Department of Ambulatory Phoning) and pass a test of whether you can safely use a phone while walking. They will then disable your phone safeguards and issue you a license in case a cop tries to get you for WWD (Walking While Distracted.)

"It's cool officer. I've got a license to use this while walking."

"Uh huh. Sure. One, it looks fake. Two, you walked right into the side of a building. Three, your shoes are wet from walking through that fountain."

I once had a co-worker say that he wanted all stupid people banned to an island. Problem here is that that would be rather subject, and abused by totalitarians.

You cannot necessarily know when someone is lying. If they are being deceptive, it may be that they themselves were led to believe a lie.

You can't do stuff like that. But, liars get what they deserve ultimately (in this world): People stop believing them, and it catches up with them. Can't keep crying wolf, as the story goes.

Kind of reminds me of...
